Winds are lighter here now than earlier today. Rain has eased a bit too. Windy shows it gusting to 50mph but I can't see that being right. A friend down in Stafford says it's very bad so maybe we are sheltered.

Cheshire is well sheltered from a SW’ly. A NW’ly is a different kettle of fish! We cop those.

Yeah it really isn't amber worthy for this part. We had worse around Christmas. Not even any bins on the street have moved!

I think we are here too, to a degree as so far it's not been that bad. W'ly or NW'y and things get rough.

Yeah I was thinking that earlier.

It’s breezy for sure but it feels like a typical winter depression rather than anything noteworthy.

Yep 👍

The wind has gone has gone up a notch. It was at the occasional whistling stage about 30 mins ago. Then it was full on whistling and rain hammering at the windows. Now we've got to the stage where the odd thump on the house makes it feels like something has hit it. A little wild to say the least.

We’ll see what happens overnight but yeah not as strong a storm as forecast currently here just a wet & windy night  but I don’t want to speak too soon as the peak is due over the next few hrs and we could get stung by some nasty gusts yet despite Cheshire’s relative shelter from the SW 💨☔️ Well at least it’s not snow ending up not as much as expected  for once! 😄😉

Ireland seem to be getting hammered would be nice if we could get away with it ‘just’ being a wet & windy night but not quite so sure yet particularly for the coast, North Lancs & Cumbria. Worst could be still to come.

Same here, literally gone from sounding still outside to now full-belt 'whistling' sound as the gusts are trying to get through the window. Somewhat unnerving but i'm prepared with a torch, phone, and book to read if leccy goes out for longer than 30 minutes and the novelty wears off.
