Just to follow on from previous post thickness levels need to be at 540 or below for snow so you can see from the first image it is marginal for southern parts of the region, uppers are a bit meh again for southern parts of the region, but evap cooling would come into effect in heavier PPN.Still four days to go and time for a slight push south(never thought I would say that)Really hope we can all see a good spell of snow on Thursday, but to say we will looking at a snow chart at 96hrs would be misleading, let’s see what tomorrows ECM has to say.

Goodbye to my old profile (Weather-History), hello to my new one. What a pain this e-mail authentication has proven to been.

Sorry to hear that WH. Why don't you raise in the announcement thread (below) that Paul started. Maybe Paul can help you and you can retain your old name and profile?

 cheshire snow

Uppers should be ok at -4/-5 but yeah, could do with a further tweak.

The symbols are slowly upgrading for my location on the metoffice automated output, now have a sleet symbol showing on Thursday morning.

An interesting text outlook from the metoffice for Thursday, probably more likely to be disruption from rain rather than snow in this area, but still far from nailed either way at this stage.

Latest runs of GFS and WRF are really starting to increase the risk for back edge snow on Tuesday night as they keep the precip going after the cold air starts to under-cut.

543 dam and T850 0 or  below will be enough, obviously it's not as simple as that though but Good as a rough guide.
Thickness not as important this time.

Not expecting much Thursday. FWIW I think the above chart will be about right.

Spah1  I got a feeling I could be watching snow fall out to the east of Macc, onto the tops of the south Peak District come Thursday.  It will all come down to nowcasting, radar watching.

Thunder Snow  As long as your email address is current to your log in to netweather, you don't need to do anything.  I just checked it on the email update thread.  Any questions, just ask on that thread, Paul is prompt and helpful.
