Raining. Again.

Honestly, we still can’t even string together one entire day without it flipping raining!

I thought today was going to be a dry day too but it's raining now, albeit barely noticeable. I did notice the Met Office text forecast mentions a few showery outbreaks of rain possible this evening.

Evening all, it seems it's going to get rather chilly. Personally, I'm expecting nothing more than frost down here but on the off chance it does actually get properly cold, may I recommend a visit to Somerset. I doubt they'll be any snow on offer but what we will have is perfect conditions for skating. Any point in Somerset, from the eastern side of the Mendips to the Severn will do, the levels are mostly under water, none of it deep enough to cause a tragedy should the ice crack.

It's the same round here.Loads of standing water an inch or so deep that should make great skating rink

Nice 850hPa temps, but 500 - 1000hPa thicknesses are nothing special.

Even that chart may not yield a frost here.

What a damp week that was.
Did not quite get the rain some on here had.
Week went; Mon 16.8mm, Tue 11mm, Wed 2.6mm, Thur 26.8mm
So 57.2 mm so far this month.

Last year was a rainy year, 1108mm total;
110 + 5 + 109 + 89 + 40 + 19 + 75 + 82 + 61 + 245 + 149 + 124

Lovely dry day with plenty of sunny spells yesterday.
High yesterday of 8c mid afternoon, low of 4 c at 7am.
Now, dry, blue skin spells again, 5.3c, 7-9 mph N to NW winds.

Sun is blazing here now.
Lovely to see so much blue sky.

Beeb Forecast just updated here with sleet Monday afternoon and sleet and light snow overnight Monday.
Was not expecting that.

I think the 1 refers to the amount of flakes.😂

I thought it was a cumulative measure, suggesting across the whole pink area, there will be sufficient snow fall for ONE snowball❄️

Morning All, what a cracker of a morning, after the overnight low of 2.6°C at: 08:22, currently 8.0°C, RH81% and a light breeze in from the N. This will help to dry things out and drop the ground temperature, classic "get the cold in first...".

On Golden sand, worra belter, and kite flying going on in glorious conditions, calm channel to go with it..

Sun and clear blue sky for most of the day although a bit of patchy cloud has appeared now. Much better than the endless grey skies of late

Cracking day. Great to have a full day outside in the Sunshine.

Next door has excavated a few bulk bags worth of soil from their garden for their new wall and we need the same amount for our slope . All got to be shifted with a shovel and a wheelbarrow.

If I'd thought about it, I would have bought some BBQ stuff for when we're done. Nevermind.

OH's Bro and our Sister in law had a lucky escape on Thursday night in Nunney, nr Frome. They have a bricked in stream that normally trickles through their back garden.

On Thursday evening it was raging and flooded their back garden and patio. So close to breaching the patio doors. The cellar was flooded, as was next door's downstairs, along with others in the village. Sounds like a nightmare.

Anyone know anything about cleaning old coins? Just found one of these in the field...

It looks like the low tide version, which is apparently rarer.

Don't clean it with anything until you've got verifications that it's valuable!

That must  have been very scary and upsetting I hope the levels subside quickly.

The lower cellar floods all the time, even though it's tanked. There's a void beyond a really old arch that always has water in it. I gave them a dehumidifier when they moved in, that runs 24/7 down there.

The vid that they sent of the water gushing through the garden and down the street was something else. Very lucky and glad of this dry spell to come.
