got down to -6C on the northern edge of Gloucester, sun is now out and the frost is sparkling.

What a crying shame this has to be replaced by sodding wind and rain on the weekend 🙄

Very fine snow starting here - Tamar Valley. No idea where it's coming from as it's clear blue skies up there.

A rogue shower is working its way down the valley from the north.  But losing intensity.

-9.5°C low, still currently -6°C, but despite the very cold start it looks like another nice day to come.

Yes retired.

I used to pick up most of my regular bouts of lurgy from work, I'm sure. It was an open plan office (o2, Slough) but the meeting rooms were small and sweaty - not unlike my old boss, actually.

Open plan offices are great for spreading germs with people walking around coughing and sneezing. the one I worked in had 12people with a range of 10ft around me, and as you say the small meeting rooms used to cram as many people in as possible for video calls were ridiculous in size. The aircon was cold on the top floor and warmer each floor you descended. Not to be missed, now I have my own space, and time to spend as much as I want outside in fresh air.

A fine cracking sunny and clear skies yet fresh start to the day, after the overnight low of -5.4°C at: 06:41, currently -0.5°C, RH 76% and light breeze from the NNW - N.

From Above the showers running down the western fringes

We had a fair old drop in Truro about 8.30 which seemed to have settled quite unpleasantly on the side lanes - temperature was -6 here first thing.

We were due to over go to St Austell for something but decided to give it a skip: it looks beautiful but looking at the frost in the back garden where the sun hasn't got to, I imagine the road surfaces are like glass. There's been a couple of accidents already according to the West Brit - go safe out there!

(PS I have a friend in Harrowbarrow!)

Yes, don't make unnecessary journeys - it looks lovely but who knows about any gritters being out on our minor roads.

Small world in Harrowbarrow - like Sleepy Hollow really!

Ain't that the truth! We're on a main road - such main roads as there are in LA South Chacewater - and behind the house is still frozen solid.

Quite looking forward to wet and windy again at the weekend just so I can feel my fingers again.

Yes, can't feel my toes this morning and but finger-less mitts help. Yes, looking forward to milder temps and not feeling shivery.

After the disappointment of no snow, today is the next best thing, cold, very frosty and clear blue skies.

Just wish it would stay like this instead of the return to horrible wet, windy weather in the coming days.

A low of -4.3°C

Already up to 4.6°C.

I'm am surprised by the lack of a yellow warning for Sunday night in to Monday along the south coast. It's showing up over 6 hours of 50mph+ gusts here. That's much higher than when warnings were issued for wind back in November and December.

There's a blackbird in the garden at the moment making that funny noise like dripping water that they make in warning, and it's very much a "spring" sound.

Likewise my friend brought me the first narcissi from her garden yesterday. (Twelveheads, so mid Cornwall.)

It's coming. The worrying bit for me is looking at the yellow warning for 50mph plus winds and thinking "gods, is that all??"

These are my favourite conditions as I don't feel the cold. However in summer 75 degrees and above see me start early and finish early.Anything higher and I get the nadgers.
