A tad nippy the last few nights as shown by my outside dripping tap...

Nice to get these cold crisp sunny days with frosts but doesn't cut it if there's no snow (we've had a few episodes like this over the last few years)...it's like a Hawaiian pizza without the pineapple, a dartboard without a bullseye and the Chuckle brothers without Barry.

Chuckle Bros without Barry would just be "to me, to me... to me.."

Think my commute to work Monday morning will be impacted! Trains aren’t reliable anyway and some wind will probably cause a speed limit

Managed 2.4 today with lost of frost still around. Now just above freezing.

Nothing very exciting on the MAD thread in terms of cold weather for the rest of Jan apparently. Some are even writing off the first 2 weeks of Feb 🤔. The models were keen on some sort of Scandinavian high a few days ago but seem to have dropped the idea.

Temperature
-1.9°C

We have hit 18:00 Hrs (6pm in old money 💰) and the current temperature has begun its Sub-zero descent.

This will likely be the last night before Storm Isha rolls through this weekend and brings those milder temps with it.

At least we get a bit of cold for Friday night 😁🥶

There's a name for the part of day, not long after sunrise, where the temps actually get colder before warming up a bit. sure one of the meteorological educated will know what it is 😄

I think it is known as radiational cooling….Once the sun goes below the horizon, the ground begins radiating the heat it gained during the day into the lower atmosphere. In the time right before sunrise, the sun is still low enough in the sky that the solar radiation is very weak - weaker than the radiating heat from the earth. Therefore, it's normal for the temperature to keep dropping until the sun gets a bit higher in the sky. 🤗

That soon changed early hours - it’s now 4c! Can hear the wind again blowing through the trees out the back and see the radar up north heralding in the new milder period.

Ah well, onto the next chase in February?
