I’ve managed to find one model that has actually increased the snow risk here at the last minute. Always trust the Swiss 🙏

Sleeting.

Arome shows that I couldn’t be closer to a winter wonderland whilst missing out. A real kick in the teeth.

I haven't looked out yet but I can hear ruddy rain!  So annoying, definitely needed a snow event to cheer me up.

Coming down heavy now, thought it was sleet mixed in but it's actually half-melted small hail/ice pellets. Obviously not cold enough for snow even higher up then...

The fact heavy precipitation is only producing sleet doesn’t bode well for the rest of the day. Time to write this one off for here. Might see falling wet snow at times but that’s it. Just wish I hadn’t told people. Completely fooled by the computer models.

Pouring down with heavy, icy rain here.

It’s just that kind of winter here in the Black Country.

Vile weather. Very wet outside. Going to be soaked through travelling to work and then have people who’ve driven in, in their heated cars telling me that ‘at least it’s not snowing’. A holes.

Hideous when people say that and also :

Haven't we been lucky, others have got snow or thank goodness the snow missed us etc

Surprised to see it start as dry snow at this intensity, was expecting a horrid mix until the heavier PPN arrived around 7.30-8.00am.

I was hoping against hope that we would see some snow today, but it’s not meant to be here now it’s raining. 😣😠😞😖😡🤬😬😒What a crappy winter this has been with all the positive background signals this winter, so far has been a total bust I know we have a few more weeks, but I have now called it full-time on this winter. I was hoping against hope that we would see some snow today, but it’s not meant

Polar Low Yet just down the A46, it's raining. Enjoy - it looks like Newark might be the sweet spot.

makelikeaturkey I think Mansfield/Nottingham will probably do best locally. Here in Newark I think we'll keep the snowfall till mid afternoon but I'm doubtful of accumulations here. Lacking just 100ft or so of elevation is going to hurt us. Going to be nice to see heavy fall though, even if it does just make puddles!!!!

As for yourself, evaporative cooling might play a part as heavier stuff moves in within the hour. Let us know and good luck.

Alternating between very wet snow and sleet. Can’t even get some nice snow to just watch falling. Just horrible wet, icy rubbish. May as well be pouring with rain.

Has just turned wintry enough to put down some slushy deposits on cars. Can I count this is a day of snowfall? Not sure 🤔

Nothing more magical than waking to the sound of cold rain lashing against your windows! 🤣
