Son not long back from Aberdeen and said roads are particularly treacherous so those of you heading in to Aberdeen via Westhill in the morning, you have been warned.  I'm not particularly looking forward to my commute over the Slug road to Stonehaven but thankfully, our soil sampler dropped off two crates of soils this afternoon so back of car is well laden.  Between that and reasonably fresh set of all-weather tyres, I'm keeping my fingers crossed it won't be too tricky 

Currently -1.0c and DP -1.5c with some reasonably heavy showers blowing through.

About 5cm fell in Stoney since supper time. The showers have been quite regular, maybe lasting 10/15 minutes, not really flaky, smaller sprinkle stuff, the snow is quite wet and melting in my hand quick when picked up.

Well its been a great evening and night of snaw... i would stay up all night looking at the radar but i need my sleep... I'm expecting about 6 inches by the morning... currently 3 inches... 

The kids are all loving the snaw day they be getting tomorrow

The showers are definitely getting heavier, more flaky & fluffier. I'd say the last few has dumped 2/3 cm. And looking at the radar "Mair Snaw" expectations of 6 inches could be way short.

Coming on lightly here, bit odd as the met and bbc have it at 0% chance of precip at the moment...

Not much sleep thanks to the wind!

Had a look outside, difficult to know if it's snowing or just snow being blown around by the wind. Snow depths are roughly the same as when I got home around 8pm last night.

The Met Office app shows a risk of light snow until around 8pm today. After that, generally cold and dry until the milder weather arrives over the weekend. That doesn't tie in with the yellow warnings for snow and ice from now until Thursday.

Slight drifting around parts of the house and garage. I'll measure the snow depth later but it looks around 2-3 inches.

Morning all, we've caught a few good showers overnight it seems. Hard to say but 3inches here too I think. A nice covering anyway, will post some pics shortly

Radar looks to have eased a bit now...let's see what today brings...any opinions very welcome

Heavy shower ongoing when I was up to the loo 20 minutes ago. Temperature now -2.1c and DP -3.0c.

Edited to add that Fubar News on Facebook is already busy with road reports, looks like the area had a really good pasting overnight

Heavy snow shower at the moment and currently - 2.5C. I'd guesstimate from looking out the window that there's been around 2 to 3cm since we cleared the driveway around 5pm yesterday. Local roads sound like a mess according to Facebook, schools staying closed or affected by transport not running.

Probably 3 inches right enough, though wife asked am I exaggerating again

Paths cleated, pavements cleared as far as i could without risk of heart attack. Wife about head kingswells primary...it'll be open no doubt

 

Tipping down again...winds much calmer but up again now and blowing snow

About an inch has fallen here overnight.   Local school opening delayed until 10.   City seems to have had quite a lot more.  
Just nipped out to check drive and it actually felt more like light rain that was falling.

Just the dusting here as reported last night but the temp got down to -7.5 so it looks like a bit of a winter wonderland here. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Roads sound a right mess.  Wife half way to kingswells.  Cars umping red lights (well, not able to stop at them so just keep going.  Bus blocking North Anderson Drive, etc etc.  Crazy not to have a delayed opening just to assess risk etc.  But rarely happens as parents complain (like shout and swear complain) if not open - the ones that see primary school as a baby sitting service.

EDIT - to be fair, some who can't work as kids home don't get paid, and for many that is just not an option

Made it out to drop the OH off for the train in Insch, she didn't look overly amused standing there!

Driveway cleared, took 2 of us 45mins. Up to 20cm in places where drifted, average around 8cm. 13cm at least on the cars as they weren't cleared yesterday, I suspect overall we've had around 15cm of level snow since yesterday morning.

I have a snow day, wife unfortunately does not so is just going to try to get to Keith.

Morning from Dalwhinnie. A low of -4.6°C overnight, currently -4.1°C with a dew point of -8.1°C. All quiet at the moment mountains doing their job blocking any showers. Heading to Aviemore area today maybe a walk near Loch Morlich from Glenmore.

No snow here of course but we do have our first air frost of 2024! Low of -1.0 but a penetrating frost because of the wind.
