Sincere apologies that my peurile attempt at humour in conjoining escaped monkey/temperature extremes has been so badly received.  When the reports were adjacent on every newscast it was too much to resist.  My apologies to any monkeys who may have been offended.

-1.5C this morning, plenty of hoar frost. The forecast suggests this may be the last frost for quite a while!

Very cold morning, -5c at 7am but rising now to -3.9c.

Clear blue skies and calm conditions.

Alas no sunrise to match the sunset yesterday...

Nasty blustery wind this morning with the rain just starting. Could be an indoors day!

Strongest winds of the winter so far. The trees are roaring and the firth is a sea of foam on long waves - and this is just from the short fetch from Inverness.

Somehow I doubt Snakey will make it over the hills...

Dry at the moment with even some hints of the sun breaking through the Aberdeenshire Permagloom™; theoretically mild at 7.5c but sure doesn't feel like it in the wind.

Very gusty SW winds causing chaos with the bins locally (these days collections always seem to coincide with a wind warning....)

Worst windstorm of the winter today. I was blown over by one big gust

Big spruce left uncut because thought to near power lines downed by wind this morning blocking farm road Just hit fence and dyke. Another bill for reinstatement. Lots of exposed trees in partially cut wood being blown down or snapped with a sound like a shotgun     Harvester  and forestry squad  cleared tree off farm round within an hour after it fell. Taken out in sections branches removed in wood so little mess in grass field.

Rain on now so neep lifting stopped but managed  a nice little store in.

This actually seems worse than the named storms from the  other week..certainly the mean wind speed feels a lot higher and cold rain smacking you right in the coupon. No wonder our mummy spaniel didnae fancy a walk....I wish the other 2 were the same.

Currently sitting in Dundee "enjoying" a McDonalds for lunch before continuing home towing a big box trailer. It's fully loaded to 3.5T so in no real danger of being blown over but it's still going to be a slow and steady trundle up the A90 and round the Aberdeen bypass.

It's quite blustery with occasional spells of driving rain here but nothing massively out of the ordinary so far - sounds worse further north.

jellybaby1969  I decided it was a good idea to go for a run at lunchtime and had the rain stinging my face, the wind felt that it was pushing be backwards at one point 🤣

The squall line just went through here with absolutely torrential rain for a minute or two and with that the wind speeds have reduced down.

Ok,ok had enough of winter and the wind and rain. Can we get to the spring and summer now? Was there rain warnings out for today? There's been some amount fallen here's lots of local flooding. Wind hasn't been anything special though.

Wasn't too bad in the central belt at least compared to the last two storms. 40 - 50mph winds and a lot of rain but nothing severe.

Absolute worst one yet, even as far south as you can get without ending up in that other place .. Huge bangs and thuds and I couldnt even open the window to see what was happening. When I opened the front door the wind blew me up the hall 😬 And hellish rain with it. Getting a wee bit tired of this noo.

Oh well, that was a bit of an anticlimax, nothing more than a bit blowy on the more exposed bits of the bypass Must have timed it well and missed the worst.
