You'd think with all the ridiculous amounts of rain we've had since July we would see reservoir levels to capacity by now. Instead as a region overall they are slightly down! 😂 Only by .1 of a percent but even so.

Here comes the rain again... Torrential squall line went through around 4-4:30am a drier slot between 8 & 11 even a brief spell of brightness but yet more heavy showery rain setting in now ☔️

Pretty sure there was a burst of hail in this new band of rain.

I also echo those thoughts earlier, we will just see more and more rain each year now. And everyone will have to adapt.

Sleety showers have now reached Hayfield.  I've just done a drive to New Mills for the weekly swimming.

Heavy rain this morning here, cleared to some rain and hail showers this afternoon, definitely feeling markedly colder today.

Chance of a bit of high ground snow overnight, forecast thinks so and the Met app for OL13 agrees but not putting any of my my hard earned cash on it happening.

certainly a colder feel this afternoon and that cloud colour that usually indicates more icy conditions.

Not surprised reports of hail, its a cold convective airmass aloft ripe for hail. The rain radar shows sleet and snow in showers to modest levels, probably 400m upwards. Current temp here 4 degrees, likely to have a ground frost, a rarity this February.

Hoping the fells receive a good dusting of snow to give a rare decent winter's walking weekend - visibility in the polar air will be excellent.its been a dire season so far for winter walkers wanting snow. Anyone wanting that cold winter fix head to the hills this weekend..

Bit late with this from early evening.

Was the precursor looking NNW out to sea over there not too far. Looking angry. Decent colours.

Sleet at best here overnight and looks more like rain at the moment but at least it’s doing something.

I was getting a bit worried yesterday when it hadn’t rained for a full couple of hours and the water pouring over the dam slipway was in danger of slowing down.

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics
