Indeed -- and the thing that worries me is the annual occurrence of excessive heat building over West Africa. . . 🤔

lassie23 cactus! As a warmth fan, I'm alright with that 40c day uk had. Cycling home from work at 2pm in the heat wasn't the nicest but the day itself was lovely!!!

The radar has the wheel and spokes effect centered to the NW of London. I've seen it a lot before, I can't remember what causes it.

Well a thoroughly wet and miserable day. 27.2mm rain so far, still pouring so think we will hit 30mm by midnight . Would have made one hell of a snowy day !

It is actually the broken signal given out by the local Radar and the effect you speak of is caused by 'radar clutter'.

permanent echoes or reflections from hills and buildings (known as clutter**) <------ Sourced direct from

Weather radars send out electromagnetic pulses to measure the location and intensity of precipitation - including rain, hail and snow - in...

It was @Jo Farrow who kindly explained the details but I've been unable to find the information that she posted. Sorry 😔

I notice this often too, I don't know for sure, but I've always assumed this is a radar thing, not the weather.
Interference where different Doppler radars overlap.

After a dismal couple of days today is a Cracker, steam rising off the fencing little wind and warmth in the sun working out in t-shirt and it's not even 10am, can't wait for proper spring now

I can't find that particular post, but other postings from that person look, um, what's the tactful word here? Deranged.

What a complete *** of a forecast for today!! Last night they said drier for the south east (kent) with sunshine clouding over later. It's been dark/dank and raining ever since I woke up 😡

Biggin It's fake! You can clearly see the way the image moves with the clouds compared to the ground
