The thermometer on my garden fence is just under the 0 line. Don't know how good it is but I do know it's in direct sunlight in the day so it's no good then (it's not mine my mum just nailed it there for decoration)  so don't know if it's accurate or not at night like now? There's no frost though so probably not.

Walsall Wood Snow no frost because of the cloud cover. Below 0 is possibly a bit low. 2.2C here.

still too high for snow, this never looked possible at low levels, for snow, around -3 is needed now before front

Biddulph will get buried

Meir heath as well has the elevation, if MattStoke could get there be interesting to see how it fairs, it's about 250m.

ICON reduces the snow risk further. Snow chances look to have gone here extremely rapidly.

marksp Same in Belper. You can have sleet and wet snow not settling in the centre of town but then a short drive (or even walk) away can have deep snow. I think that may be the scenario tomorrow.

MetO have gone from having snow here all Thursday into Friday on 5th February… to rain, rain, a little bit of sleet and more rain!
I’m all for getting warnings out as soon as possible but I can’t help but feel they were very premature with this one!

LeeKay/ Can’t though really ignore that all the computer models have unanimously changed the detail at the last minute.

MattStoke don’t they always? Especially when it comes to snow. This winter has been a joke

We’ve all had these scenarios a lot worse….🥴

Ive literally gone to bed with the forecast showing full on ❄️❄️❄️❄️ and expecting to see snow falling in the morning to see just full on rain….so tbh I’m not really disappointed regarding this.. will it… won’t it 🤭

The likes of PM with do well out of this….for the rest of us, let’s move on 😉

Last second changes for snow have always been a lottery, but something about the last couple of winters, it's always been downgrades. Genuinely awful last ~18 months of weather, probably the worst I've ever lived through.

markw2680 I wouldn’t mind too much as at least I’ve seen snow this winter but I’m dreading the embarrassment after telling a lot of people that significant snow is coming 🙈 I don’t think I’ve got a snow prediction for Stoke wrong before.

MattStoke I've been monitoring the models today and it has been a surprisingly large shift North across all of them given it is just 24 hours away, always typical that these shifts go in the wrong direction.

Could not be closer to the borderline, here in Newark! I expect snowfall fairly consistently throughout the day, but likely wet with accumulations unlikely. However, Mansfield for example, 20 miles away, will far exceed 5cm. Nevertheless, will be enjoyable to watch heavy falls albeit not settling. I'll take it.

You know the first thing we are all going to do when we open them eyes is think is it white or wet? Open the curtains to be treated to…..

that horrible walk with the kids to school, wet paths and cold sleety rain slapping us in the face. 😢

bring on the warm summer and a good old humdinger of a storm that’s what I say

I think we should be more thankful as to how far numerical weather prediction has come in the last few decades?

Back in the 80s surely we wouldn't even know a day or two before if there was going to be a low come up against cold air and deliver snow! Maybe that was for the better though...

Models have all reduced the snow risk at the last minute and show the milder air pushing north much more quickly.

Stupid UK weather.

So typical of this bloody winter, literally everything has been a let down, be it short or long range!!  I now have 2 hours of sleet in the morning.  Don't think I have ever known such a frustrating season!
