Midlands regional discussion - Winter 23/24

Recommended Posts

Well its cold out here but as with others  our forecast is slowly reducing the hours of heavy snow which was earlier predicted all day for us tomorrow.

The disappointment is that it now seems we can't even look at model output with hope when it can literally change 9 hours before a snow event. It just goes to show how unpredictable weather is.

Starting to think the old days of seeing a snow event a few days out and excitedly telling friends has come to an end as 9 times out of 10 it becomes a flat scenario... even for the METO.

I think after this one I will.be ready for a blazing summer.

Wrong side of marginal as always for most of us. Hugely disappointing, even if it didn’t stick around long it would have been better than nothing

I'm afraid for many this is as bad as it gets 😂

Thankfully shortlived and Saturday looks better, mild some sunshine. I can even spot a few daytime showers breaking out!

Each year, I find myself getting less excited over charts showing the possibility of snow because they hardly ever verify, whereas milder than average charts almost always do. Nowadays I just take it as it comes.

The UK climate is certainly a trying one for us weather enthusiasts, particularly during the winter season.

There has been no downgrade in Belper area according to metoffice. Arguably a minor upgrade as pre 9am sleet is now showing as snow. Still a BOOM (ps: I have no altitude at my location).
