It would be interesting to find out the warmest airmasses seen over the UK for every month of the year. Other ones that I know of that were broken in recent years were in June, July, September and October. But for the spring months I'm least sure on.

16-17°C at the end of February is incredible. Not sure if we've seen anything as high in March or April?

As of +120 the ECM 12z has the low by the Azores considerably further east akin to the 12z UKM, with a bit of a high to its NW.

Intrigue increases further.

When I see such a huge difference for the better at 6 days out I get visions of Darren Bett being dragged off the levers of the model controls.

So the day 7 ECM chart is very similar indeed to the really odd UKMO run. Interesting because now we get to see where that would’ve gone.

ECM and UK at 168 are very much on the same page with the split vortex

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole.
