  1. Wasnt the 2nd February 2009 snow event restricted to the SE also. Does that not make it a special occurrence.
  2. In the middle of last July who would have forseen how dry this summer would be. Even up until May several forumers were still predicting a 4th wet summer in a row.
  3. The highest temperature here so far this year is 26.8c on May 23rd. I'd say we will come pretty close to topping that this weekend. The wind direction looks favourable with not much of a sea breeze so 27c possibly 28c could be within reach.
  4. I just cant see what the issue is with lack of rainfall. We all know come the winter, everyones grass will be back to normal again. I'm all for seeing thundery downpours but those rejoicing at the current model output showing lows stationary over the UK for days need to be careful what they wish for. Thats unless they are wanting a washout second half to summer.
  5. Theres no question its going to get hot in the SE at the weekend. Question is how hot. Theres a good chance we could record the highest temperature since 2006 which would cap off what has been an excellent start to the summer. (not in any way implying its going to be unsettled from now on)
  6. Indeed. Perfect for those who like to spend the long days of summer indoors. Awful for the majority who would rather be outside at this time of year.
  7. I wouldnt say its been that hot, just consistently very warm. Today looks like its brought to an end an impressive run of 25c+ days. However with such an impressive run of warmth i would have expected at least a couple of days to reach the low 30s. Still theres such a long way to go and with things looking very promising for a continuation of the warmth i wouldnt bet againist somewhere reaching 33-35c before the summer is out.
  8. Not record breaking but a very nice month nevertheless, and about time too. We've had almost 2 weeks of predominantly dry and sunny weather with only a bit of rain that came a couple of nights ago. On the back of the last 3 summers that is pretty notable and i hope we've now turned a corner towards experiencing better than average summers in the coming years. As for the comparison with January. They are totally different months with totally different weather types. Of course those who love exciting weather will have liked January. However give me sunshine and warmth any day.
  9. 21c at 9pm. Pretty impressive. On the whole its been another decent day. Not a lot of sunshine but still warm.
  10. A very pleasant evening but with rather a lot of cloud. Still 19.8c but i dont see how stations near me are recording 2/3c higher. It isnt like theres been a sea breeze keeping the coast cooler. Donna Nook on Lincolnshire coast about 20miles to the SE from here was still at 22.7c at 8pm
  11. The warmth is still hanging on here and looks like it is going to do so throughout the week. Current temp is 24.8c, 1c lower than yesterday. The predicted increase in cloud from the west hasnt arrived just yet.
  12. First 30c of the year today and hopefully not the last. Now 30.3c at 2pm at Gravesend.
  13. A cooler day here due to a southeasterly off the sea but still its been very pleasant non the less. A rather cloudy start to the day but from early afternoon onwards theres been lots of hazy sunshine which raised the temperature up to 21.4c. A lovely refreshing breeze too. Now down to 17.9c.
  14. Unlike last year, this July will see a continuation of the very warm weather, with brief cooler, unsettled spells. 17.5c
  15. And the attraction in recording a very cool June is?
  16. Temperature already up to 20.5c with almost clear blue skies with just some wispy clouds. Min of 13.8 last night.
  17. Another very warm day in prospect. Up to 19.8c although the sunshine is a lot more hazy than yesterday.
  18. And i hope the similarity stops from now on. The rest of Summer 1963 was poor. August was dreadful.
  19. Time to resurrect this discussion i think with 30c possible in the south at the weekend. 25c was achieved over much of eastern England yesterday.
  20. Interesting to see how this coming Saturday was looking a couple of days ago. The very warm/hot spell at the weekend is very much a recent development.
  21. Still cloudy and rather breezy. Only a bit warmer than yesterday, 13.8c.
  22. Its been an absolutely glorious couple of days here but its a pity it hasnt been reflected in the CET due to the annoyingly cool nights. However it looks like staying warm by day during next week after a coolish weekend so high daytime maxes should compensate somewhat.
  23. The past 3 days have been lovely, even here on the east coast where temperatures have been pegged back in the mid to high teens. Today has seen almost clear blue skies and just a light easterly. A high of 18.1c.
  24. If you compare it to the past 3 summers it certainly wont be typical. There looks to be an awful lot of dry and pleasantly warm weather around for the next week, possibly 2. Comparing that to the endless unsettled conditions that have plagued much of the past 3 summers this month could turn out very nice indeed, despite us not heading for some proper summer heat as yet. Having said that i do like the look of 6z which shows the high sinking south back over us bringing higher temperatures to most parts for a while. I expect it to be a theme played out in future runs but as the 6z shows it brings with it something more unsettled. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn1741.png http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn18017.png
