  1. Still looking good in about a weeks time and once again it coincides with the weekend. 20c quite widely achievable judging by this: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/wz/pics/Recm2161.gif
  2. The GFS 0z does show a transition to warmer yet more unsettled around the 23rd with still a week of the month to go and if my memory serves me right has consistently done so for a few days. The actual change may vary by a day of two but i think its a stroung enough signal for a warmer final week. Tomorrow isnt looking especially cool either with temperatures reaching 17c
  3. Still a very dry outlook for all but the north of Scotland with high pressure remaining in control. Signs are that we may pick up more of a southwesterly at the end of next week with the chance of some more unsettled conditions but the ecm keeps it mostly dry throughout.
  4. I take back what i said yesterday. Today really felt awful and very unlike the middle of April. The strong wind and lack of sunshine made it feel very unpleasant.
  5. I've got to say i was dreading this week due to the fear than i would be always cloudy and cool. The latter has probably been the case but nevertheless that fact that its remained dry is more important to me. Although I do get very envious of western parts in summer reaching the mid 20s in glorious sunshine when we are stuck in the teens with stubborn low cloud.
  6. Nice little high appeared at 120h on the ecm. So a continuation of the settled theme looks likely for some time yet. from mid week onwards it all goes downhill but as has been said its beyond the reliable timeframe.
  7. Considering some of the models were showing some quite horrendous charts a few days ago i'm relatively pleased with how things are looking. In the longer term theres still the chance of a warm southerly developing as shown on the ECM and GEM.
  8. Very similar here too. Cloudy and quite cool, 8.8c. At least the breeze is still fairly light.
  9. I'm liking the look of the models a lot more than a couple of days ago. Looks like high pressure will remain anchored to the west of the uk bringing a lot of dry weather albeit rather cool.
  10. Cooler here on the east coast with a temp of just 9.4c. Some strong sunshine though making it still feel warm out of the breeze.
  11. Oh dear, thats just typical. I have nearly 3 weeks off work soon and was hoping to get outdoors to enjoy some warmth and sunshine. What comes along to spoil it, a cold northerly. Hopefully it will be brief, although in some cases we can be stuck in a cold northerly flow for weeks.
  12. First tulip about to open in the garden. Last year it was round about the 1st so were only a week behind.
  13. Quite a lot of cloud around with only limited sunshine. Feeling pleasantly warm in light winds, 15.4c
  14. They gave my location a warm and relatively dry summer last year compared to the rest of the country so from an IMBY point of view i love them.
  15. I'm still looking forward to the upcoming spell of settled weather and even though i would prefer a warmer southerly the fact that we should get at least a week of dry weather is very welcome. Even for my location in the east, Thursday to Saturday should see decent amounts of sunshine and temperatures nudging towards 15c. Thereafter it looks like a brisk easterly will set in across southern parts but i cant remember a spring withough a cool easterly at some point so its nothing unusual.
  16. The ecm12z is not too bad and certainly an improvement on previous runs. The easterly is postponed until Sunday, leaving us with quite a decent end to the week with temperatures probably nudging into the mid teens, perhaps as high as 18c in places. Hopefully the 240h chart is how things will develop eventually, pulling up a warmer southeasterly.
  17. Its certainly been far from cold and misearable here. Seeing it bucketing down at the Burnley/Man City match whilst it stayed dry and mostly sunny here really does highlight theres been a lot of regional variation in the weather of late. So far i would class it as a decent spring with plenty of dry weather and reasonable temperatures with a couple of very mild days. I see no real indication across the models that its going to turn colder. The GFS is really taking the easterly to the extreme and the much warmer UKMO 144h is a just as likely outcome. If you want real cold to start April look at 1986. Several days with maxes of just 5 and 6.
  18. I've got 2 weeks off work at the end of the month so i'm keeping an eye on the long range forecast too. Signs are at the moment that something more settled is about a week away so with a bit of luck it will last well on into the latter part of the month.
  19. It really did feel raw today and very unpleasant waiting for the bus or indeed being outside at all. It was more like mid winter than the last day of March.
  20. Cloudy with showery rain on and off. 5.1c
  21. At least theres a gradual improvement shown in the models with rising temperatures and the hint of something drier for the 2nd half of next week.
  22. Its absolutely gorgeous out there at the moment. The sky is almost as blue as it gets and the sun has some real warmth to it. All around theres the sound of people enjoying the outdoors and the usual sound of a distant lawnmower. I really cant think of any reason not to like this sort of weather.
  23. Signs are that the northerly will be short lived and wont stick around through Easter. Pressure building from the south looks to be a feature from next weekend onwards with the ecm ending up very nice at 240h. Support from the metO long range forecast too.
  24. Its not about expecting too much too soon, its more about getting that little taster of summer and wishing that it was May/June instead of still early on in the season.
  25. A freak hailstorm accompanied by some thunder at about 3pm this afternoon in Hull city centre. Back home its dry with mostly clear skies. Currently 9.2c
