  1. Well in a way i'm getting a little frustrated by the weather at the moment but only because it isnt warm enough. The past few weeks have really wetted my appetite for something a lot warmer and more summery. Early spring in my eyes can be a very frustrating time of year. One day you can be basking in pleasant warmth and the next you can be plunged back into winter. The past few weeks may have been boring for some from a weather point of view but after 4 months of just watching the weather during winter its great to be able to get out and use it without it being too cold/dark/wet.
  2. After what looked like a total write off, this weekend doesnt look too bad considering. It looks like the rain band on Sunday will mostly affect southern parts leaving the rest of the country bright and breezy and of course we'll have an extra hour of daylight in the evening. All goes downhill from then on but i suppose its timed nicely to coincide with the start of the working week.
  3. Theres certainly been a huge transformation in the past couple of weeks from conditions that could still be described as wintry to now what wouldnt be unusual to achieve in May. The second half of the month doesnt quite match that of March 2005 but to end up near average after the cold and frosty first week shows how exceptionally mild its been recently. Just as i say that its reached 15.1c here and the sun is out. Perfect spring weather.
  4. Turned out very nice indeed. Pleasantly warm with some good sunny spells. 15c
  5. 8.7c. Unsettled early on and to end the month. Dry and warm in the middle.
  6. The daffs here are on the verge of coming out and in the garden some bush (dont know its name) is starting to get yellow flowers. Its still flowering a couple of weeks later than it has been in previous years despite the mild weather of late. However theres a definite feel of spring now and with not much wind it feels much warmer than 12.4c would suggest.
  7. At the right time though. Hopefully we've turned a corner and all the upcoming spring and summer months will come in above average, hopefully at least one will be significantly so. I dread to think what a summer month over 2c below average would be like.
  8. Sunny, breezy and slightly cooler than yesterday, 11.2c.
  9. Even the easterly i predicted had a chance of happening judging by the models in recent days but now they seem to have gone off the idea. Youre right there would have to be a continuation of mild days and nights in order to reach 6.7c.
  10. Lovely morning here too with plenty of hazy sunshine. Feeling warm in light winds, 8c.
  11. I know everyone on here seems to hate southwesterlies but i'm really looking forward to later on this week. Here on the east coast we always fair pretty well in terms of sunshine amounts and warmth. Given some decent sunny periods i can see temperatures rocketing well into the mid teens.
  12. Later this week could see a significant rise. Nighttime minima arent forecast to drop much below 10c. Infact a CET of over 10c is possible especially on Wednesday and Thursday.
  13. Its amazing how quick the turn around has been in a couple of weeks from cold and wet to mild and really quite dry. The ground has really dried up in the past 2 weeks despite it not being that warm. All of a sudden i'm contemplating doing outdoor things this week that wouldnt have been possible back in February.
  14. Today was the first day of the year that i could sense Spring had arrived. It was pleasant enough outside despite a keen breeze not to need an extra layer. More of the same to come throughout next week as well.
  15. Last Spring was great, so much dry and warm weather. Plus we had that very warm April.
  16. Its worth noting that we are only 1/3 through the month with 20 days to go so a lot can change. Saturday should see the first widespread double figure temperatures so if the fairly mild conditions were to persist through the rest of the month we would end up close to average. I'm not basing this on what the models are showing, its just a possibility. Likewise i cant see any prolonged cold indicated either.
  17. Well youre in luck. The weekend looks to herald the start of spring for most parts and should finally give the spring bulbs the injection of warmth that they expect at this time of year. I'm getting tired of seeing the countryside so featureless, everything looks so dead at the moment. A few weeks of mild weather, plus a bit of rain and everything should look a lot different.
  18. Miles better ecm which would give some nice warm days. By warm i mean 10-13c i suspect so maybe mild instead of warm but it will feel warm given the unrelenting cold we've experienced. Not too worried by the return of the Atlantic either in the latter stages. I'm looking forward to some milder nights as well as days.
  19. I still believe theres a chance of things warming up early next week and the GFS prooves my point placing the high in a much more favourable position for some decent spring warmth. http://www.wetterzen...s/Rtavn1801.png The other models arent too keen to keep the high for more than a couple of days but with more of a westerly it shouldnt feel too bad the further south you are.
  20. Oh, i do hope we are in for another 2006 type summer. Thats the last time i experienced proper heat i.e temperatures approaching 30c in very little wind. The last 3 summers have had their moments but they have been all to brief (not existent as was the case in 2007) or affected by an onshore breeze which keeps the east coast several degrees cooler. Finding it hard to sleep comes with a hot summer but i will definately take that if it means we get plenty of warm sunny evenings where it doesnt drop below 20c until it gets dark. I hate having to wear an extra layer in summer even in the evenings, it should be the season for shorts and t-shirt most of the time.
  21. All the longer range models are now showing the milder Atlantic air breaking through around next weekend. At the moment there looks to be no real change to unsettled conditions either so for many areas the dry spell looks like continuing for some time yet. Becoming quite warm too.....eventually.
  22. HP rules as far as the eye can see but again will it be another case this year of seeing such a setup in Spring and Autumn when its incapable of delivering the significant warmth that we would get in Summer. The most HP dominated months of the past 3 years have disappointingly not occurred in Summer. What a week we would have next week if it was July.
  23. So its been the first day of Spring and it really did feel like it too. Temperature wise it wasn't really springlike but in the stronger sun in did feel quite warm. The good thing is that we havent seen the last of it either. It looks like the first half of the month could well be dominated by high pressure bringing a lot of dry/sunny weather. I know it wont suit those looking for 'interesing' weather but all the cold and snow has got in the way too much over the winter so it will be great for the weather to take a back seat for once and allow a return to doing outdoor persuits that havent been possible during the winter.
  24. Very much a high pressure dominated outlook from most of the models with only NOGAPS throwing a proper spanner in the works. Looks like a long overdue drying out of the ground is about to begin after the recent deluge.
  25. Early next week should see the first proper spring like conditions over a wide area. Chances of widely reaching 10c still look slim but it could be the first time that there is a real sense of Spring in the air.
