  1. That is the one reason why i like the early sunsets in Winter. Because on the whole its most unpleasant being outside in Winter so i'd much prefer to shut out the cold and remain indoors. Any extra daylight in Winter would be totally pointless as the weather conditions make it impossible to enjoy the outdoors like you would in summer.
  2. As temperatures look to be widely reaching the high teens tomorrow i consider that to be the start of the warm spell. The GFS temperature charts show 20c+ as far ahead as next monday so its more like a week of warmth in southern areas. Knock a day or two off that for more northern parts.
  3. Absolutely superb ECM 00z, infact so are all the other models. The only disappointment is the fax charts that indicate there may be quite a lot of cloud trapped under the high later this week. However the northerly in the latter stages has virtually been eliminated maintaing the settled and increasingly warm theme throughout. The longer the high stays with us the better the chance of recording some very high temperatures.
  4. With the weather online week ahead forecast going for an astonishing 28c next weekend i'm sure that 22-25c wont be too far off the mark. Love the headline too - 'becoming hot'
  5. Its really lovely out there at the moment and much more reminicant of late Spring than the past 2 weeks. Its only 12c but theres just a bit more warmth out there making it more enjoyable to be outside. Just what the light evenings should be all about.
  6. I always want high pressure over unsettled conditions but i can understand some people wanting rain. For me personally i hate to see the trees wilting so early in Autumn when its been very dry so some rain would be welcome to prevent that. A hot, sunny and thundery summer would be fantastic and i'm sure would suit most people. GFS 12z showing no signs of a let up in the dry weather, not that i'm complaining too much. Sundays rain doesnt look to be amounting to much.
  7. For me it would be the other way round. Long days and warmth all year round. Perfect
  8. I absolutely detest the long dark nights of winter although i do find myself getting used to them eventually. However, throughout the Autumn theres nothing more i look forward to than that day in December when the sun starts setting later in the afternoon. At the moment i cant invisage how i could pass away the 7 hours in mid-winter after sunset without being able to go outside. The opportunites for spending time after work are so much greater with these light evenings. In Winter you have no option but to stay indoors. So thats why in Winter i'm glad i work in the evenings so i can make use of the few daylight hours there are and go to work when it gets dark.
  9. Well at least a warm up is now pretty much a certainty even if there may be quite a lot of cloud around. Living in the east though we are always in a favourable position for the best of the sunshine and the highest temperatures so i'm not complaining.
  10. ECM 12z looking good so far. Hopefully the high will move further east as was shown on the 0z http://www.wetterzen...cs/Recm1441.gif
  11. Wow. What a chart!!! Could be the first time of the year when we use the word 'hot'.
  12. Its yet another case of will it or wont it. Will we manage to get up to the average CET before the month is out after another cold start to the month. Its fair to say that a rise is likely to begin in the next couple of days and if the GFS 00z is anything to go by we would achieve 11.3c fairly comfortably. However i expect that we will fall just short.
  13. This evenings ECM is good but no where near as good as it could be. However its that time of year now where we dont just need a southerly to reach 20c. By the looks of it most parts should see at least 20c sometime next week.
  14. If the ECM verifies we are likely to see 20c being achieved Tuesday/Wednesday next week so whilst we may not see a sudden rise in temperatures in the short term, the current cool spell looks to be thankfully coming to an end.
  15. In the short term it looks like temperatures will return to normal by the weekend. Nothing much to shout about but after the unseasonable cold of late that should feel very nice. ECM very promising showing the Azores high ridging towards the BI in the latter stages.
  16. After several days away from model watching its good to come back and see things looking a lot better now than when i left. About 5/6 days ago the situation looked awful. We did actually get a couple of very nice days last week but temperatures were definately struggling to get much above 12c. On into next week it looks much the same for the first half but someting of a change later on with signs at last of temperatures recovering.
  17. Looks like a decent day here and rather more May-like than the previous two. Rather cloudy but with the sun trying to break through. 13.4c
  18. Looking on the bright side these sort of charts have been repeated at some point in several Mays gone by, and were often followed by decent summers. 1995 being the most obvious comparison. As for what lies ahead for the rest of the month surely by the law of averages the 2nd half of the month will see an improvement. At the moment the models are looking very poor, verging on diabolical.
  19. Signs from both the ECM and GFS12z for low pressure to stall out to the west at around 240h. This would maintain the unsettled theme but it would become increasingly warm. Something to keep an eye on. In the meantime temperatures will still be reaching respectable levels for early may on Tuesday and Wednesday. So its certainly not all doom and gloom as some would have you believe.
  20. But it is only April. What do you expect? Nightime mins have been quite cool aside from the final week so its the high daytime maximums that have contributed to the above average CET.
  21. 7c below average at this time of year would give just 6c which would be regarded by many on here as remarkably cold for the time of year as something like that very rarely happens in late April. So at the other end of the scale widespread maxes of 20c should be regarded as significant too. Its very common for somewhere to record 20c in April but yesterday it was recorded right up the east coast as far as Newcastle.
  22. Another warm and sunny start to the day. Currently 17.1c. What a lovely month it has been.
  23. Temperature still up at an impressive 15.3c. Almost feels like a balmy summers evening out there.
  24. Its been rather cloudy today with only fleeting glimpses of sunshine. The warmth has most certainly made up for it though with a wonderful max of 21c. Still nice and warm outside at 17.5c
  25. Oh, well. Goodbye to the pleasant mild evenings, for the time being anyway. Next week will see a return to the mostly dry theme after the weekend rain, however i do hope that main area of HP shifts a bit further east.
