  1. Sunny and hot here in Barry, some bits of cloud around but 28C at present, still got another hour or so of heating to go. Sat inside with windows and curtains closed and fans on, makes a difference, its between 25-26C inside and that 2-3C difference can definately be felt when going inside from the garden.
  2. Anyone know why there is a 5C different between what the meto forcast for ehere I live (30c on Monday) to what the bbc say (35C) most the models ive seen have had 34-36c for my location Monday. I just hope if we do have to endure the heat we can get some good night-time storms to make it at least partially worth while. Not seen a good storm in many years now.
  3. Im dreading Monday, as a support worker I will be in work for 13hrs, then 12hrs on Tuesday and will have to go out in this heat at somepoint. This heat will not be good for us in health and social care and the service users in our care, a lot who are unable to regulate their body temperature properly and this kind of heat will likely bring on their seizures and exacerbate other health issues. Not looking forward to this at all.
  4. What would be preventing Southern Wales and the SW from having similar values and instead nothing when we are predicted to be in the low to mid 30s also?
  5. Despite the cloud and occasional hazy sun, it's 28.7C in the garden, it would be over 30c no doubt If the sun was out. Despite the cloud keeping temps back a bit, the house is still 26c and it feels a bit muggier today so not very comfortable. Roll on some rain and fresher air lol
  6. Can I change this? Im going to change completely for LHR 17th and 39.2°C
  7. 26.9C in the garden, house is very warm too. Just bought and put up a mirror vinal on the french doors to see if it helps resuce the heat in the house at all. Not looking forward to the next week or so, roll on it cooling down to the low 20s, thats perfect summer weather for me!
  8. I'm not a fan of heat when at home and having to work, holiday is always different as you get some relief whenever needed thanks to A/C and you're not having to work in it. As a support worker I do anything from 10-26hr shifts and it is getting a bit much now at just 25/26C, Thankfully South Wales isn't generally predicted to get the temps England are, but still some showing up to 29-32C which is to hot. I've had my curtains closed and cheap A/C unit and fans going through the day to keep the house cooler the last couple days with temps at 25C outside and that's made a big difference when I'm home. Fingers crossed the temperatures being shown get downgraded to our usual summer high temps of low 30s. Also home for a thundery breakdown lol
  9. Its looking to get hot across all of Wales over the next week or so, though southeast and East Wales with the highest temps. Not liking these mods prediction up to 35c in parts of Wales and close to my area, today was more than hot enough for me!
  10. My weather station is playing up, the solar powered anemometer has seemingly packed it, can't get it to work sadly. Had the station for probably nearing 10 years. Any recommendations for a good but inexpensive new station I could look at buying?
  11. Very frustrating, im in Norwich for the weekend visiting family and Barry and some thunder and lightning! Typical
  12. Have some dark clouds forming just East of where im working South Wales, feels pretty still out, only the lightest of breezes and ready for a storm. Fingers crossed for later!
  13. Got some cloud building over now but still very warm and a bit muggy. Fingers crossed I can see my first storm of the year however unlikely lol
  14. It's been lovely here, sunny and temp 25C and a warm breeze, feels a bit humid though. I can tolerate this heat when off but it wasn't pleasant at work today, 20-21c is ideal lol.
  15. Its a lovely day, sunny and temp at 20.3C in the garden, perfect spring day!
  16. I was surprised to see a few light snow showers around the coast yesterday despite temps of 6C in the showers, was nice to see though!
  17. We can't get snow or thunder here these days, I think they should pay us some compensation for being greedy
  18. I think the red was justified - there has been quite a bit of damage along the South Coast, a petrol station in Barry lost its roof, in Bridgend there are trees down and quite a few roof slates went flying, including my parents house, it was very bad for a couple hours. We have some sleety hail now, sky has gone orangey.
  19. My thoughts too, I expect a lot of damage along South Wales, hopefully they should start to ease over the next hour for us.
  20. The wind in Barry, South Wales has been horriffic, getting some of our most powerful gusts still now so I can only imagine those further east still have a long way to go before the worst of the winds pass.
  21. Hopefully the video works, you can really hear the constant roaring of the wind even if its not showing the strongest of gusts outside but from the rest of Barry thats more exposed. Never heard anything like it in the background for so long, been hours its going on for now. 20220218_114942.mp4
  22. Well all of a sudden the wind direction has changed a bit and there are some really big gusts now even in my sheltered bowl, the sound of the wind around Barry and watching the trees further up the hill, must be close to 70+ in some of these gusts
  23. Absolutely hammering it down here now. Still not recorded a gust over 36mph but thats partly due to my anemometer being on a wobly fence. Didn't realise that im as sheltered as i am dissapointingly, winds must be 30mph less by me than up the hill at the top of the street.
