  1. Its looking to get hot across all of Wales over the next week or so, though southeast and East Wales with the highest temps. Not liking these mods prediction up to 35c in parts of Wales and close to my area, today was more than hot enough for me!
  2. My weather station is playing up, the solar powered anemometer has seemingly packed it, can't get it to work sadly. Had the station for probably nearing 10 years. Any recommendations for a good but inexpensive new station I could look at buying?
  3. Very frustrating, im in Norwich for the weekend visiting family and Barry and some thunder and lightning! Typical
  4. Have some dark clouds forming just East of where im working South Wales, feels pretty still out, only the lightest of breezes and ready for a storm. Fingers crossed for later!
  5. Got some cloud building over now but still very warm and a bit muggy. Fingers crossed I can see my first storm of the year however unlikely lol
  6. It's been lovely here, sunny and temp 25C and a warm breeze, feels a bit humid though. I can tolerate this heat when off but it wasn't pleasant at work today, 20-21c is ideal lol.
  7. Its a lovely day, sunny and temp at 20.3C in the garden, perfect spring day!
  8. I was surprised to see a few light snow showers around the coast yesterday despite temps of 6C in the showers, was nice to see though!
  9. We can't get snow or thunder here these days, I think they should pay us some compensation for being greedy
  10. I think the red was justified - there has been quite a bit of damage along the South Coast, a petrol station in Barry lost its roof, in Bridgend there are trees down and quite a few roof slates went flying, including my parents house, it was very bad for a couple hours. We have some sleety hail now, sky has gone orangey.
  11. My thoughts too, I expect a lot of damage along South Wales, hopefully they should start to ease over the next hour for us.
  12. The wind in Barry, South Wales has been horriffic, getting some of our most powerful gusts still now so I can only imagine those further east still have a long way to go before the worst of the winds pass.
  13. Hopefully the video works, you can really hear the constant roaring of the wind even if its not showing the strongest of gusts outside but from the rest of Barry thats more exposed. Never heard anything like it in the background for so long, been hours its going on for now. 20220218_114942.mp4
  14. Well all of a sudden the wind direction has changed a bit and there are some really big gusts now even in my sheltered bowl, the sound of the wind around Barry and watching the trees further up the hill, must be close to 70+ in some of these gusts
  15. Absolutely hammering it down here now. Still not recorded a gust over 36mph but thats partly due to my anemometer being on a wobly fence. Didn't realise that im as sheltered as i am dissapointingly, winds must be 30mph less by me than up the hill at the top of the street.
  16. Yes getting some strong gusts now in Barry, can hear the roof starting to creak at times and the back windows starting to wistle. I imagine further up the top of my street a bit higher up and the lower parts of Barry by the coast are getting pretty rough right now.
  17. There is a constant roar here, im guessing its from the wind along the coast line and higher up as im about 20m lower down than some of the surrounding houses and land keeping me sheltered, very weird having that constant roar in the background.
  18. Worst of the winds still out towards Cornwall and Southern Ireland, winds starting to pick up here in the gusts, within the next 2hrs I'd say the worst of the wind will start and things will change
  19. Starting to get a few stronger gusts now, unfortunately living in a bit of a dip I won't be able to record the true strength of the wind.
  20. Not even had a gust over 30mph here yet, very calm so far and looks quite nice out, was expecting it to get quite bad already. Will see in the next hour or so if anything changes.
  21. I've been out and bought some tinned stuff and easy food to do on the gas hob just incase there is a power cut for any length of time. Fingers crossed I've just been over cautious, always best to over prepare though. Hopefully the gusts will max out at no more than 80mph for us.
  22. Well with talk of it deepening more rapidly than the forecasts and potential for it to be further north ( some say it is while others say its not?) It could get even worse for us on the South Coast than some of the predictions. If it continues as is with a drop of 23mb in 8hrs already, wouldn't surprise me to get a wider area of us seeing 85+mph gusts. Could be completely wrong though.
  23. It will be interesting to see how bad this actually goes, or if it ends up less severe, with the models swaying with its exact path still and wind speeds going up, then down, then up again etc. A selfish part of me would like to see an 80+mph gust as in my nearly 28 years on earth I can't recall really seeing any past 60-70mph.
