  1. Thanks everyone for your kind words.
  2. Haven't posted for a while, but decided to update blog. My first blogs were about how my Dad had been ill and what a brilliant recovery he had made. Sadly he died 4 weeks ago. He had been admitted to hospital as unwell with vomiting and couldn't stand as dizzy, they thought it might be vertigo, did a CT scan the next day due to his head injury in October, but nothing showed up. Two days later they couldn't wake him and called for us, he had suffered a massive stroke and would be unlikely he would recover. He remained unconscious but there was a glmmer of hope as all he could move was his right hand and a couple of times he touched his head when we told him to, but sadly his condition and breathing got worse and he died 2 days later, two days before his birthday. It was a comfort to us to know that he could hear that we were with him. Life slowly getting back to normal although I admit to teary times. Doesn't seem four weeks ago that he died. The support from my wonderful boyfriend has been tremendous and don't think I would have got through the worse times without him. Everyone says things will get better and I know it will in time. We've had a few laughs about things he said or would have said during the preparations for his funeral and burial. Apparently its cheaper to be buried 6 foot down rather than 3 foot, as more ecological friendly. Mum said thats fine as he hated archaeologists, so when they dig him up in 500 years times they will have to dig twice as far to get to him! Anyhow, as he would have said, time to get back to work. Its the weekend and can't wait! Roll on 5!
  3. Odd snow flakes falling for last hour or so, after a sleet/snow shower, not much to talk about really!
  4. Continuous snow falling in Whitfield Dover, since early this morning, unfortunately not settling. Rain/sleet was falling in Canterbury before left for work at 8.30 am

  6. 3.8c, warmest its been for 4 days! Rain falling.

  13. Weekend already started for me, braved the City Centre and did almost all my present shopping. Theres' one person who still hasn't got anything Anyway whats been going on - I have a cold, really bunged up and have terrible sinus pain, but still I struggle on! Think I should have shares in kleenex. Unfortunately has made my cough that i have had on and off since May come back with avengence. Theres been so much food on offer this week that didn't dare go sick. Taken out Monday for carvery meal by contacts at work, office xmas lunch Wednesday and the Head of Services office buffet yesterday. Very nice indeed. Netball going well - in our the main Canterbury league we are top of the league division 2, having been relegated after a season in division 1, so promotion beckons once more. In our indoor league we should finish 3rd, which is a fine achievement if I do say so myself. Off out tonight to see a band in Folkestone with ES, sorry KS, and his best mate is coming down, so a good time should be had by all! Adios amigos
  14. Can I recommend on here - Toby Carvery £6.99 each, stuff your face with as much as you can eat, I can't recommend/advertise? Oops!
  15. Mods please feel free to move but didn't get opportunity to post yesterday 25th. Had snow falling for approx an hour at 2pm yesterday at work at Dover, mixture of light snow, sleet plus some "proper" big flakes. Yesterday evening in Canterbury a wintry mix shower, sleet and snow.
  16. Well they say you are only as old as the man you feel, and seeing how its the other half's birthday I'm now 28 (if only). Another netball win Monday, third in league, not bad for a bunch of 30+ year olds. Chelsea out of their so called slump (haha), normal service has resumed. Work, well less said better. That was the week that was! Anyhow off out to celebrate Essex Snow's birthday tonight, nice meal (hopefully) then off to the pub. Enjoy your weekends
  17. Its the weekend and I need a drink or 6! Monday night was netball, played a local school team. Within few minutes tripped over my own feet, landed on my ar.. sorry backside then fell back and smacked my head on the ground. Like a true pro got up and carried on playing. Told my marker that I used to go to her school, she asked when did I leave, 1988 I replied, Oh she said, thats the year I was born!!! How old did I feel!! Anyway despite aching we went on to beat them. Have ached the whole week! Good news is that Dad came home from hospital yesterday and doing really well, adjusting to being back home and actually being outside where quote "Its bloody freezing out here" Must go, pub is calling. Cheers
  18. Its been a good week for me - my dad has made unbelievable progress this week, so much so the hospital are hoping he may be discharged during the week. His speech is almost perfect, he has no problems reading and writing. He was moved to a rehabilitation ward on Monday and now has regular physio and exercise - he can walk with a zimmer, which he says gives him more confidence, but is perfectly able to walk with one stick. Oh and he has got his appetite back after not eating properly for 3 weeks, reckons he ate more yesterday than he had in the previous five days! His memory is fine although has no recollection or what caused the original fall or the first week or so that he was in hospital. I know there was a rather heated thread about the NHS recently - we've had a mixed experience, at one time mum and I were up their most of the day as they hadn't got people to watch him and he kept falling out of bed, but now he is definetly in the right ward with the right care. I think communication is one of the biggest issues between doctors and nurses to patients and family members and even between the various medical teams and nurses themselves. As for me, hurt my back while up the hospital while chasing after my 18 month old niece, bless her. She thinks its great fun walking inside holding onto the front of grandads zimmer while he is trying to use it. Still played netball this rather chilly morning, the average age of our team is probably mid 30's. We were up against some young team who have several county players, so was good to get a good win in against them. For a non-contact sport can get nasty at times. Anyhow think ES is getting withdrawal symptoms so best hand laptop back. Laters!
  19. Well I thought I would join the world of blogs. Some of you will know I used to be a regular poster on here last year, full of slightly salacious posts and mad ramblings about my now ex weirdo neighbour, Chelsea and other mind numbing stuff but now I only pop up now and again, mainly to do my football predictions. There is no real reason why I don't post, actually there is, life changes for the better, thanks to this forum I met and now live with a wonderful person meaning I don' t get as much time or much use of my laptop now. So will use this to bore you to death with any snippets of news. Anyhow... well thats a thing my dad always says when changing from one topic to another. Its a difficult time for my family at the moment as my dad is in hospital following a head injury, stroke and four seizures. He lost his speech and was terribly confused. Thankfully over the last week he has made amazing progress and is communicating well, although loses track mid sentance or the word gets jumbled. But when he said "Anyhow.." for the first time, I knew he was improving. Its going to be a slow rehabilitation process but things are looking up compared to two weeks ago. Anyhow...I've been a bit mixed up. tired and emotional the last few weeks so extremely grateful for all the love and support my wonderful boyfriend has given me. ILUM xxx
