  1. Started to get quite interested in this feature for Nottingham! Thinking it might start as snow, turn sleety, then turn back. However still ages to go until can be sure!!
  2. full on snow in Nottingham, massive flakes, cold surfaces turning white and temp down to 1 degrees from 1.7 degrees twenty minutes ago!!
  3. Ice, hail, pellets here in Nottingham,. Some cold surfaces turning slightly white but was very unpleasant running outside!!
  4. Couldn't agree more with the previous post. It's the weather for goodness sake, if it causes this much angst as to whether it is going to snow or not, then that's worrying!!! Generally the met office have been excellent this winter, with very challenging Synoptics and marginal snow events; the clear message is that unless they start mentioning widespread snow, don't believe it, regardless of what posters on here say.
  5. The charts look interesting for end of week ESP for south east of uk. Everywhere else needs a northern correction to bring them into the party as well. Looks a long shot for areas north of the midland but southern third of uk in with a shot of some snow showers by the end of the week.
  6. Temp dropped to 1.9 degrees now.. defo more sleety.. should get in on the party at some point in next hour or so byut been a very slow process!!
  7. looking at the lamppost a slight sleetiness to the rain now.. temp dropped to 2.4 degrees now...!! another hour or so and should be turning more... prob need some heavy precipitation to help with the process!!
  8. still about 2,7 degrees here in the centre of nottingham.. slow, slow descent downwards!!!
  9. Temp in Nottingham city centre at 4 degrees down from 4.3 degrees and hour or so ago. Should continue to fall over next couple of hours. Not all that heavy the precipitation at the moment. I think I would rather be a bit further south to see snow fall this evening. Might not be enough falling from the sky here when it is cold enough.
  10. Some people either: - don't listen - can't listen - misinterpret - read and believe the daily express There is no guarantee of snow anywhere.. Equally there could be a good covering in others. The BBC and met office have Been clear on this, after initial talking up the potential
  11. Got a new Oregon weather station so first official report: Temp 4.3 degrees Rainfall.. 1 mm today so far Pressure 990 mb Don't think much will stick or settle here in centre of notts... Prob some falling snow after dark!
  12. To refer back to previous event, all of Nottingham city got blitzed by heavy snow from around 10 pm; hardly a place of elevation right in the centre. So g f s wasn't right for this area, further south maybe... Elevation was not important.. Precipitation intensity was.
  13. Very unclear about tomorrow. Not sure I believe any model as yet as they are all so inconsistent with placement of low pressure. Don't think I am expecting a great deal of snowfall however for Nottingham, whereas yesterday was thinking could be a good event
  14. Difficult to know what is going to happen. Likely to begin as rain in my opinion and urn to snow late Sunday is my best guess. More leeway in the easy midlands than the west initially. Would not surprise me if northern midlands into southern northern england did best. However, it is very marginal and perhaps will struggle to stick for a while.
  15. Yeah I don't believe this Nae output at moment.. Far too much question mark over the development of the low pressure and it's track. I guess it shows what is possible but very low probability Nae was great before last Friday... However it does seem to be going off on one with this track and development... If it shows the same for three or four runs I will take more note, but as others have mentioned the rain will most likely stay well south of it taking a track across the south of england
  16. It seems fairly clear the boundary between rain, snow set itself across the east midlands... Further north than expected... Still snowing here in Nottingham... Biggest flakes of the two weeks this evening... Just not been the persistent snow I was expecting.. Still reasonably happy to see one last batch before rain and mild winds move in
  17. Not sure the radar is entirely accurate tonight.. I wonder if all the chunks of ice and pellets have distorted some returns
  18. Well snowing hard in Nottingham city centre.. Settling.. No altitude at all Though clearly situation has been very complicated and not as depicted by BBC graphics for region
  19. Very bizarre night... Had about twenty mins of very large flakes covering every surface.. It appears you need heavy precipitation to get favourable conditions!
  20. Full snow in Nottingham.. Seems to very related to intensity of precipitation... Big flakes
  21. Defo change here in Nottingham to more snow in past few mins... Big chunky flakes.. Maybe all is not lost yet?!?
  22. Very very mixed picture.. Icy snow... The precipitation seems to tilted south west, north east... I expected it to be moving differently!
  23. Still icy snow in the centre of Nottingham., the net weather radar does not really represent what is falling from sky in my location as yet.
  24. Starting to look more like snow, in nottingham, albeit quite icy still, and far too early to claim any plaudits..
