  2. As i said in my earlier post: FLASH WARNING FROM MET OFFICE: East midlands, home counties, EA http://metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/ee/ee_forecast_warnings.html
  3. Thats true. I'm 200 asl Im still very cautious though, could fall as sleet as well. Snow heading into London right now http://www.raintoday.co.uk/
  4. I think you will be pleasantly surprised Tommy. With -4 850s and good DP's together with snow cover and such a cold start. I think the very worst you will see is wet snow, but I think it will snow for you. I expect warnings to issued from the met office for SNOW for the Home Counties and East Anglia this evening, as is always the case in these situations. Even as the Front pulls away expect back edge snow across all of our region.
  5. Good morning everyone. Well, what a beautiful drive into work this morning, still a good 3/4 inches - 5'' in places with no snow melt at all yesterday. Quite breath taking driving through the rural parts of hertfordshire, a true christmas card scene. I have attached a pic of the temp my car was reading this morning, my word it was -10. Never seen it this cold since I was a youngster.
  6. Who is predicting this for the home counties? To me the home counties will be lucky to see a flake fall again today. Kent are the ones that should be getting 10cms surely?
  7. No its not expected to move inland, although big showers will form in the North Sea and run across Essex and kent - Lucky them!!
  8. NO. The band from the wash will never move that far inland and the showers forming in the North Sea will cross Suffolk, Essex and kent. You will have more snow saturday night im sure
  9. A map below with who looks likely to recieve more snow this afternoon into the evening.
  10. Hey Everyone Well what a real treat for me in South Herts. Woke up to a very tasty 5 inches, beautiful blue skys right now at temp of -1 and no sign of that snow melting. Hoping for some more snow tomorrow night. The band across North of the East Midlands and N EA will not move very far TBH. By the time it makes it to the home counties it would have died of death. Im really excited about tomorrow night, Council saying another 5cms Saturday night across Home counties and SE.
  11. BBC London forecast = excellent next best thing to feb 09 Very excited now
  12. What a beaut the 18:25 forecast was on BBC!! London rush hour commuters = watch out

  14. Christ - Its actually falling quite a bit now. Edit: Moderate = Settling on cars. People in South herts N.London - Look out
  15. Its snowing here again. After drizzle for the past half hour. It was also snowing at 8am. Can anyone explain why it keeps changing from Snow to Rain/ Rain to snow?
  16. Dont expect really any real snow from this front in the SE today. Sleet at best. It was snowing lightly at 8am. It is now raining and im 250asl. I thought this would at least be falling as sleet.
  17. My work colleagues in my head office in Milton keynes have confirmed - ITS SNOWING!!!!
  18. The front due to pass throught the SE/EA tomorrow, how far west will the PPN be? Looking at the charts I see it as far as Reading, is this true?
  19. The PPN band sitting under Newcastle on the radar. Is that the PPN that could give Snow in the SE tomorrow?
  20. Hello to all. My first post, I have been viewing net weather forums since the beginning of last winter and I have to say what a real pleasure you all have been. To the untrained eye you have all allowed me to learn and really grab a good understanding of following the UK weather paterns. Observing you all ramp, argue, get excited, cry, feel let down and reach for the prozac has been very entertaining to say the least. You get a real understanding of the members that are the optimistic ones, the troublemakers and the members that will try and find a bad in every chart be it winter/summer. Back to the models - Take it from me, I may be a amateur but I dont think I have ever seen charts like this so early on in the season yet im struggling to work out why im hearing talk of break downs at 144hrs. I sat at my desk at work last Wednesday/Thursday reading your posts and im quite certain if the charts came off I should be looking at snow falling outside my window now with a very strong easterly wind. Certain members on here are very clever and intelligent people and you know your stuff, so i find it very difficult to understand why members talk of breakdowns when we should be enjoying these wonderful charts that are Finally not in FI. After all its what we have all been waiting for in the end. I probably will not post much, but I shall continue to view all your great posts. Lets hope the 12z continues on a high. Archie
