    ah excellent thanks andy! what am i on about i must be going mad! slight brain murmur there! I use http://www.metvuw.com/forecast/forecast.php?type=rain&region=uk which seems to be quite good too. i am just crossing fingers this dark band will give us a final covering before daylight!

    snow seems to have stopped here andy, but I notice that dark band making its way to us shortly! Any ideas of time frame for this hitting us?

    yes i onl just got back home and heard about that. will see what we can do to help. still snowing hard here. snow plough went past 10 minutes ago and cleared road, now its recovered again. hope we are in for an all nighter!

    hi guys well a470 is looking very bad. been several accidents outside my house and now i have even been taken off call as its too dangerous. numerous reports of police, fire and ambulance having accidents as they attend them. i just pray to god no member of the public has serious medical problems tonight.

    just got back guys and not stating the obvious but do NOT venture out unless its critical or urgent. The roads are very hazardous - just returned from an incident involving a fire engine which had skidded and crashed into a car. if these guys cant handle the weather then we all have no chance. i dont think this is going to be a quiet night.

    evening all, wales/andymusic in particular. just thought i would give you a general update on road A470 from cardiff is nose to tail, power station hill (new bybass) impassable although because of rush hour its jammed. heard from emergency services as i type there has been a serious accident near treforest estate. to make matters worse i am on call and literally just had my first callout this minute. just hope the 4x4 manages these conditions, will check back in when i return.

    just looking at the (yellow/orange band) then its not far away 35-45 minutes perhaps? can we rely on raintoday even though its showing different colour, just as a means of tracking it? also i noticed the band seems to have joined another band coming from the east now so its looking a lot thicker?

    ah ok so that explains it showing as grey then within a minute showing yellow/orange!! so anyone got updates on where this band is exactly now and is it still snow?

    guys watching the radar it seems this snow is fizzling out to rain, right? edit - now its showing massive bands of hail!! bright yellow for the same band! damn it!

    just been catching up with all your recent posts, internet went down earlier today so this has been a major case of catch up! No snow here Upper Boat A470 apart from the small flakes, blowing in the wind, which I am sure you all experienced today. Of course bitterly dissappointed with the overnight news, but this new front andy mentions is certainly interesting, not had chance to look at Monday/Tuesday as yet.

    just returned from a callout! no sleep left in me now so thought i would check in! was looking at raintoday and it seems the showers have missed us or am i wrong? is there a better site for radar?

    looking at radar it seems that clump has moved down further south and is now going to miss south east wales. if it had no moved id have expected it to be snowing here right now.

    this is exactly what garage are going to find out for me now. if so then i will come up my jeep and (bring spare tow hook!) that way i can actually tow you myself. thats as long as you done mind the attention of a doctors car! will let you know shortly.

    andy sorry to fail you mate but my guys in garage dont have the tow clip you need. i am waiting for them to let me know if the tow clip from a volvo SC60 will work. hang in there mate. garage told me same about flatbed truck it will be a struggle. will let you know shortly.

    andy let me see if i can help you with it. cannot promise anything but we run volvo 4x4s but mine is in garage at moment. will speak to our engineers and see if i can sort something for you. would a flatbed truck which can revoer it be any easier? we have permanent ones on call already paid for, so as long as you make out your one of our employees that can work too!! let me know. where is your car exactly?

    andy silly question here - and referring to metoffice aviation related forecasts i have access to, i am supposed to be doing a medi-vac on monday, offshore from norway to aberdeen - i am thinking this is very unlikely. you think i should wait or pass this onto another agency?
