  5. Deepsnow heres a nifty tool #i cam across today by accident and have not seen anyone else mention it before but if you goto this link http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/observations/pontypridd#?tab=last24hours - you will have to alter it for your location though!!! on the bottom of the table for observations on the right hand side it give altitude information. Nifty eh!!!
  6. looking at radar my prediction is something will be falling out of the sky in south east wales between 4-5pm. although i dont know what it will be yet! Cats and dogs, aircraft, rain or maybe even the WHITE STUFF!
  7. not that this really affect us but met warning upgrade http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/cold-weather-alert/#?tab=coldWeatherAlert
  8. sorry guys we had a power outage approximately 10pm last night and only just before 6am was power restored, hence the reason for no condition updates from me. anyone else suffered this power thing/anything to do with the weather?
  9. sleety snow here daniel, andy will defo have it know where he lives LOL
  10. EDIT Sorry guys - I mis-read my thermometer - +4 degrees C here. very sorry.
  11. outside thermometer showing 1 degrees C here in upper boat, pontypridd. bitterly cold easterly wind, no rain just damp.
  12. yes i totally agree. jackone and jackfrost it was not huge anti english it was basically something which has been mentioned before and I feel strongly about as well. The fact that whenever reports are made by media in england they seem to forget Wales, which in my opinion is very true. The person is a valued member of this forum and did make several apologies.
  13. I agree Jack. Yes I am not too sure as yet if to get excited!
  14. Evening and happy New Year weather watchers, hi jay, andy, usual lot!! BBC News 24 - 12:00am 10/01 - Weather forecaster (Chris Fawkes) - winter is just around the corner for many of us. Low pressure from west sweeping into Wales bringing risk of showers, then overnight satursday, another pressure band from East and easterly winds with potential for snow shoers overnight into Sunday.
  15. heavy rain here, a470 upper boat, pontypridd. temp 2 degrees, Snow chance of flakes falling! damn damn damn EDIT: looking at traffic cams it certainly does look like this east/west split is as predicted. snow on parts of M4 bristol, with heavy rain from severn bridge M4 eastwards.
  16. METO warning update 11:54am Issued at - 09 Feb 2012, 11:54 Valid from - 09 Feb 2012, 16:00 Valid to - 10 Feb 2012, 12:00 An area of snow is expected to develop over parts of east and northeast England later on Thursday. This evening and tonight snow will then extend steadily southwestwards into central and some southwestern parts of England, as well as the east of Wales. Whilst there is uncertainty regarding where the heaviest and most persistent snow will fall, accumulations of 1 to 5 cm are likely with a risk of up to about 10 cm in the worst affected regions. These larger totals are more likely across the Midlands and perhaps southeast Wales. Later in the night the snow is expected to die out across northern, eastern and much of central England to be followed by widespread ice on untreated surfaces. The public should be aware that, as a result, there could be some disruption to travel. This warning will be kept under review and may be updated in the light of new information.

  18. hi electric do you mind if i post this on regional forum for wales, with credits to you?
  19. bitter disappointment in south east wales as well last weekend. i live in a valley, south wales, two mountains either side and basically the snow came down hard literally two miles either side!!! when i say either side i mean further to the north and south of the valley so it was a case of chancing things! although because of our elevation we only had light snow with nothing materializing!!! am hoping that latest forecasts are right in showing this band pushing further into the west across wales and stalling, although theres not a huge chance i dont think!! for your information I am in Pontypridd, Upper Boat, A470, current temps -3.
  20. not that its of any use to us lot, but met office have issued amber warning now for North west england of freezing rain. this is in addition to their snow alert. my point being METO are keeping a beady eye on things. issuing this within the last hour or so. Issued at - 08 Feb 2012, 22:26 Valid from - 09 Feb 2012, 05:00 Valid to - 09 Feb 2012, 12:00 Rain will move southeastwards from Scotland into England early on Thursday. This will fall onto very cold surfaces, such as roads, and will freeze instantly, forming a layer of ice. The public should be prepared for extremely hazardous driving conditions, particularly on routes over high ground and where roads are untreated.
  21. classic andy i know what your saying! better be safe than sorry. what i was trying to get at was all the hype past two weeks, as led many people to make some drastic decisions, pretty much which amounted to nothing! never mind i have strong feelings about next couple of days because no-one seems to agree about where is going to get hit worse, although after looking at models i think east wales are certainly favourable in my books. of course not saying that because we live in south east wales
  22. your larder must be getting full now andy after all these (non) snow events LOL
  23. UKMO chart for 13:00 10th FEB is showing a radical slip going further to the west, so this might be good for us in Wales?
  24. not trying to rub your noses in it guys, but this shot shows how real bad it is in warwick - m40 -junction 13. i am sure you will agree for a major road its looking quite bad. hmm our turn next time i guess.
