  1. Chucking it down with rain here. 2.6c DP1.1c
  2. Went over from Garnlydan to Crickhowell at 16:30 and it was belting it down with snow on top and most of the way to Crick. Rain in Crick though
  3. Stopped here in Merthyr. Was fine wet snow for a while. Was forecast for 3-4pm though.
  4. Reports coming in of #uksnow on Twitter in Bridgend and Cardiff
  5. As long as i'm up and out of Merthyr before it gets bad then i can make it home. MetO forecast has changed a little from early. ppn for later in the afternoon. Predicting mostly sleet for Merthyr. IanF did mention warnings in the Mod thread for Wales but I have a feeling they are wringing their hands at the moment. It really will come down to nowcasting and looking out the window as the front comes through
  6. I've got the wife's car today because the battery needs changing. So all my emergency winter gear stuff is still in my car. I get the horrible feeling that things may take a turn for the worst in Merthyr this evening and I'll be stuffed. My luck.
  7. I think we're too far west in Wales. Midlands will get the most of it. 12z should nail it down to yay or nay.
  8. Clouds look threatening. Too warm here though. Blorenge maybe getting some though.
  9. Snow next week in some places. Still way too far out to know where. I suspect even on Monday it will be difficult to predicted exactly where. Get the feeling that it's not going to be a "disruptive" snow event that most people wish for but I could be completely wrong.
  10. Snow on the Blorenge. Rained here in AberG this morning. 2.2c
  11. Just watched the weather on BBC24. Worst I've ever seen. Rushed with no details whatsoever. Started the forcast at 9am tomorrow and quickly went through to Sun. A short mention of "some significant snow for some"
  12. A temp ban for the more persistent offenders wouldn't go amiss. I've had to use ignore on quite a few so that only the level headed cold and mild lover remain. Even reported a very inappropriate post directed towards a female contributor. Anyway. We're all good in here and now the wild winds and rain are out the way we can start looking forward to some cold and possibly some snow. Maybe some lampost watching tonight and early morning for the more hardcore of us.
  13. I've found the Mod thread much more of a pleasure to read after finding the ignore function. The chopping and changing of the UKMO and GFS is very interesting to watch and comment on (mod thread) but its still at t120 where the marked difference is. Still way too far out to be of any great worry at this stage. IMO Looking forward to seeing the temps drop of the weekend with the potential for some wintry showers. As the the old chestnut goes "lets get the cold in first"
  14. Yellow weather warning issued for snow in Wales on Sat.
  15. Met Derek at a book signing in our bookshop. Great bloke and really happy to talk about the weather for as long as I bugged him about it. By his own admission he is a mild and warmth lover. Plus you are quite likely to get a reply off him in Twitter. Top man.
  16. A word of warning. Do not go into the Mod thread this morning. I still think the cold and snow is on but the biggest and baddest nay sayers are up early and ganging up to try and do the proverbial on everyone's chips.
  17. Frequent and heavy hail showers here in Merthyr
  18. Temps seem to be dropping off over Ireland in the last hour or so. Possibility of some snow for us on higher ground this evening as that band of ppn moves through?
  19. To my mind yes. It definitely won't be mild. Quite a bit colder with always the chance of snow for those lucky to be in with a change of snow at t36 Do you mean the models have changed in your opinion or the drama queens posting in the model thread are having a hissy fit because of snow charts at +t72 IMBY and because they are masochists already looking for a breakdown at t120 t240 etc.
  20. Usual suspects getting the "oh well let's hope Feb is better" posts in early on the Mod board. Last night sounded wild. Haven't checked the weather station data yet for rain totals and wind gust. A paltry 21mph before going to bed. We are quite sheltered here in AberG.
  21. Miserly 20mph here 10.9mm of rain today
  22. It's now looking more likely than not that next week will see a significant change to cold. Snow chances increasing but as for IMBY type stuff it best waiting until 48hrs from the event. I may just be confident enough to buy a snow shovel. ;-)
  23. Light dusting this morning. Now I have to muster the enthusiasm to go for a run.
  24. 2.4°c DP 0.1°C Getting there slowly
  25. Just too low in AberG. Snow shield has been activated. Steady rain. 3.2°C DP 0.5°C
