despite talk of day after tomorrow in the Mad thread, the local south-west tv forecast was just on. He mentioned some snow going on up north.. but for this region... not even a mention of wintry for the moors
Max's of 10 to 12c everyday next week too
I think the most notable aspect of this next week will be frequent gales.
-
If that comes to fruition we do seem to be in a repeating pattern of unsettled/wet first halves of months and much more settled second halves.

24mm overnight and a further 6mm today. We haven’t even had a half hour long dry spell, drizzle and sharp/heavy showers keep forming to the SSW and move quickly overhead.
-
-
Anyone getting anything wintry this evening? Net Weather radar showing snow on some high ground.
Temperature has dropped quickly to 3.0c this evening after a recent downpour.
-
These showers are moving at about 60mph.

Good Morning to all in the south west and central southern England from a south-easterner.
I am a Chelmsford City supporter and we have a rescheduled for this Tuesday evening away at Torquay United. The game was to be played a coupe of weeks back but cancelled the day before due to a waterlogged pitch. As a lot of supporters had already booked trains and hotel/ B & B accommodation they still traveled down to make the best of things.
I have booked the coach for Tuesday with a departure time of 12 noon, but wonder if there any posters on here based in the Torquay who can give their view with existing conditions and what is likely to happen over the next couple of days as to whether the game is likely to go ahead.
Kind Regards
Dave
I don’t think we’re in for a damaging amount of rain anywhere in the SW. Even today it’s racing through so not even half an inch in my location from the last 18 hours. Then it looks showery the next few days but plenty of sun/wind too.
Look out for the cultured left foot of Torquay’s Jake Andrews, he’s from my home town Westbury and on loan from Bristol City.

Warmest so far here too at 18.5c max. Wonder how long until we get that high again!

Yesterday we reached 17.2c after 0.8c minimum. This morning it has snuck a point lower to 0.7c but I wonder if we can sneak a little higher later.

But that’s the impressive nature of the diurnal contrast between 08.00 and 13.00-16.00 .
Those people may have gone out that early. For instance we went out at about 08.00 in coats, hats and gloves etc then this afternoon we went out in shorts etc!

Setting up for a large diurnal range today, frosty at 0.8c currently with clear sky so promise of a fully sunny day.
-
Fantastic max of 16.2c! We had fog until mid morning then sunshine which turned hazy by 16.00 .
-
Does fog and low cloud actually serve a purpose?
-
Lol it took until 15.30 for the cloud to dissipate, just in time for a brief max of 12.9c and it’s now dropping despite ongoing sunshine!

Well it happened. I parked up to start my outdoor work literally as it started raining for the first time in 9 days! Couldn’t have been more (im)perfectly timed!
Thankfully the heaviest missed and it only lasted half an hour!
-
My prediction made about 10 days ago looks like coming true. Rain/showers forecast perfectly for the start of my half term outdoor work tomorrow morning!
-
Ian’s just said on Points West there are signs that this largely dry weather will continue in March and April.
Whether that is cool dry or warm dry wasn’t mentioned.
-
Did we really have 10 inches of snow 2 weeks ago!?

Our fog burned off equally as fast but only within the last hour. Will be interesting to see if the temperature rebounds quickly because it’s gone 11.30 and still below 7c.

Absolutely beautiful morning working outside in Westbury. Hazy sun rising into a milky sky and a SSW breeze picking up, temperature about 8c.
Now is it too much to ask for similar on Monday to Friday mornings next week!?
-
A definite day of 2 halves today ; dull, wet and windy this morning then mostly sunny with a cold wind this afternoon.
-
Yet another Saturday with rain/showers! There wasn’t any last week though after the snow dumping!
This week last year was half term and it was a very changeable week which wasn’t good for my outdoor work. Of course this coming week looks bone dry after tomorrow and with half term being the following week I expect the dry spell to end in time for Monday 18th!

Extremely windy so far today, plenty of sunshine and, in the last hour, frequent hail showers to add further fun! Temperature is dropping too.
