Unless my eyes are deceiving me there are a lot of CBs embedded within the batches of downpours. Anvils are clearly visible in most directions.
Getting very lucky so far while working in Westbury with only brief heavy showers at the edge of the main areas.

90% of our garden is shaded now even at this time of day. Crammed into the sunny 10% are 2 airers of washing and me sitting enjoying it while my boy plays with his diggers, tractors and trucks and shifts stones everywhere!
Glorious afternoon, sunny with fast moving Stratocumulus, breezy, 15.7c .

There seem to be some stark sun/dull differences around today.
It's gone from dull to warm sun here in the last hour with a brisk Southerly wind, approaching 16c now.
Can't help but wonder how hot it would have been in summer.

Any wintry precipitation from that line of showers heading SW? Conceivably even freezing rain given the surface temperature!?
-
Today was the coldest day since the 2nd Beasterly in March, Monday 19th March to be precise.
It started gloriously sunny/frosty and ended windy, raw and wet with rain/sleet.

Well here we are again, another school holiday starts tomorrow and Mother Nature is changing the weather for the worse, however I will be happy with working out in cold/dry from Friday (although next week has stereotypical wet likelihood!) .
Even though much of the summer holidays saw me working out in dry conditions the general theme still changed from definite heatwave dryness to more unsettled right as the schools broke up!
Much of this may be rendered unimportant though seeing as I am currently iceing my right foot which I can barely stand on today, no idea how it happened but thankfully I'm sat in the sun * and my boy is happily investigating every square inch of the garden!
* To return to my opening comments re school holiday weather this is the 7th perfect day in a row!

Just a bit annoyed about that this northerly happens when we go away to Ibiza, because we will miss the first cold of the year!
Why? Enjoy your holiday in warm sun while we, according to some, 'enjoy' 7c and cold rain / showers with the odd frost if the sky clears at night / early morning.
It would be much more interesting a month down the line.

Quite an interesting morning with alternating fog, mist and low cloud. It looks clear above so hopefully another beautiful day to come.

Ah how wonderful. Sat in the garden in the sun with my boy happily playing despite him being poorly.
It's been sunny all day except for half an hour of low cloud mid to late morning.

The 6th gloomy damp/wet morning in a row! Roll on tomorrow! Although thankfully it was quite sunny yesterday afternoon.
-
I had forgotten how frustrating fog can be. 15 minutes ago it had lifted to hazy sun so I put washing out. It's now returned!
-
Rather annoyed to see a forecast of another wet day tomorrow!
To think until Friday evening all forecasts had this front clearing through by this morning leaving several lovely days, however now it's looking like still being here tomorrow evening!

6.3 mm today. 50.1mm this month. Light drizzle now. 7.8c. Humidity 98%rh
Not a million miles away we've had 22mm today!

We had a glorious 4 to 5 hours with temperatures above 21c and a gale blowing but now back to showers/drizzle forming to the SSW and moving over.
-
Yet another wet weekend day and tomorrow, which had looked lovely, now looks terrible too!
Not sure why a constant stream of showers keeps forming near the South coast and moving inland but they sure are looking like botching up the chances of a warm, fine afternoon.
-
Kicking myself for not doing washing last night and putting it out. We had no rain, a temperature that stayed around 16c and there's no dewy dampness either.
Instead it's just gone out and rain looks like arriving mid morning rather than this afternoon as forecast yesterday evening!
-
A very impressive 22.2c max today! Even more impressive is it's still 17.9c approaching 21.00!

Day 2 Convective Outlook
VALID 06:00 UTC Wed 10 Oct 2018 - 05:59 UTC Thu 11 Oct 2018
ISSUED 20:14 UTC Tue 09 Oct 2018
ISSUED BY: Dan
Upper low over northern Iberia (the remnants of the rainfall event over southern Britain last Saturday) will weaken and be absorbed into the forward side of the main upper trough approaching from the Atlantic. An increasingly moist airmass will advect from France across southern Britain during Wednesday evening and night, destabilising as subtle upper forcing engages with the moisture plume.
Sporadic bursts of showery rain will likely develop over the English Channel and portions of England and Wales during Wednesday evening and overnight into Thursday morning. A few hundred J/kg CAPE accompanied with subtle forcing may allow some sporadic lightning to occur, moreso on the rear (western) side of any showery rain, but unlikely to be too widespread.Naturally there is some uncertainty as to where any lightning may occur - but two main areas of interest might be E Devon / Dorset / Somerset / Wiltshire into SE Wales during the night, then another area towards SE England / Home Counties by Thursday morning at the end of the forecast period. However, neither look convincing enough to warrant an upgrade at this stage.Interesting possibilities tomorrow night! I will be on the lookout for AltCas during the day.
Ian Fergusson mentioned the low chance of thundery activity on Points West.

The important question over the next couple of days may well be,how far east will the effect of the possible intense lows next week be felt?
Their proximity will mean the difference between 'beach/barbecue' chances next Saturday or a muggy washout.

5 lovely warm afternoons this week. Why people chase winter weather set ups in October (when all they will bring is cold rain) is beyond me while such beautiful outside conditions are still possible!

It's quite uncanny how frequently the worst conditions keep occurring at weekends. That would be the 3rd poor Saturday out of 4 (given how bad this Saturday looks and with a fine week in between) , in the amazing summer there were 3 poor Sundays with great days sandwiching them and even on a dry weekend (last weekend) amidst a very pleasant early Autumn spell the coolest, dullest day was Sunday.

We had some pointless drizzle this morning but again I am playing outside with my boy under a virtually cloudless afternoon sky! 16.1c as opposed to 21+c with a fresh breeze.

15mm in less than half an hour from an insane downpour which included hail that is still laying on the grass!! The Net weather radar had light pink over my postcode several times in that half hour!
Add that to 24mm from last night.
