30c breached for the first time since 21st June last year! Although it is so hot I am loving how dry the heat is because it isn't sticky or uncomfortable at all.
-
Hottest night for about a year plus not a breath of wind and some numbskull nearby decides to have a bonfire!
-
I was wondering if my 28c was inaccurate but obviously not!

It may not be heavy but the Cold Front has pepped up to some extent and it's been raining for over an hour here. Likely to be the last rain for a long time though.
In the recent times of numerous weak fronts the IPhone weather app has been surprisingly accurate with timings of rain which initially look unlikely. This morning it showed 60% to 70% chances between 15.00-18.00 and that's spot on. It did similar last Saturday and last Tuesday. On every occasion the Met Office app has shown only 20% chance at the most.

It was drizzly and gloomy in Warminster at 07.00, the 3rd such morning in a row! However Westbury is sunny with broken Stratocumulus and warming quickly.
Amazing how a few miles makes such a difference, looking South it still appears Warminster could be as it was when I left!
It makes me wonder if it's been the same every morning!

Very strange day. Thick low cloud and some drizzle until mid morning, a rapid clearance to full on sunshine between 10.00 - 15.00 then thick low cloud again with drizzle this evening. Windy throughout and 22.6c tops, 18.3c now.

A 5 minute downpour yesterday afternoon and a surprise spell of quite heavy rain this morning to boost June's total here.

I get the feeling we are getting to a critical day or two in the modelling stakes which will ultimately dictate the weather the remainder of the June.
Surely the weather dictates the models!?

Impressive low rainfall stats, unfortunately I'm at 10mm of which 9mm came on Friday 1st in a half hour downpour! Half a mm last Saturday late pm and again this morning.

Now for the big question .... any more views?
Stargazer ; Saturday's prospects are improving IMO. It's a pretty slack low pressure, I think it might start overcast then brighten up to sunshine and showers.

Last time we had a strong South Westerly was 2nd May! Very gusty this morning and damp too but very little rain to come from this front.
15.1c at the moment, wonder if the front clearing mid morning will still drop the temperature even though it's mid June.

Just popping in to ask a stat question.
BBC Weather stating Stornoway has had 22 consecutive dry days, does anyone know when such a long dry spell last occurred there?
-
I was anticipating a cooler and cloudier day but not drizzle and below 15c approaching midday!
It was beautiful until about 08.00 .

This is the first morning for what seems like ages that it has started sunny!

I saw the radar early this morning with a large storm cluster over the North of France edging into the Channel.
All forecasts/apps showed it moving West while decaying. It would seem it headed North and has now developed into a broad area of light/moderate showery rain.
Now all previous forecasts for tomorrow are irrelevant and I suppose, while it hasn't been thundery over here, this shows how difficult forecasting is under slack pressure.
-
Absolutely wonderful, not! Out all day, left washing on the line as no rain/showers expected anywhere near home, it will all be dry. We're 50 miles from home and the radar shows it about to rain there!!!!!!

It feel thundery in warminster in Wiltshire and I get headaches when I get thundery feel to the air
Tom I admire your enthusiasm but it is nothing like being thundery in Warminster!
Thick cloud and 19c maximum until an hour ago and now pleasant/sunny.

I guess we have developed some kind of inversion. This few days looked set to be warm and humid with sunshine and potentially thundery showers!! Instead it's gloomy, occasionally damp and stuck just below 15c.

Stratocumulus burning off as I work in Westbury, fascinating process to watch.
-
All this talk of it becoming more unsettled is rather subjective. I think the term 'pattern change' is more applicable, if indeed the flow begins to come more from the Atlantic than the Easterly quadrant. It hasn't been 'settled' in this region for just over a fortnight, we have had drizzle/rain/thundery downpours on 11 of the last 15 days!

That moment when you decide today needs to be wash day due to a busy week and it's going to be dry then it's raining!

I am holding out the smallest hope
Edit: very heavy showers moving over Reading area. Doesn’t look like they will become electrified but proves that there is potential
They formed over the London area and are heading West, presumably something to do with UHI effect.

An actual proper, normal British summer day!
Not crystal clear all day or with persistent low cloud/risk of showers as has been the case for so long.
Started with broken Stratocumulus that gradually convected into TCu and fair weather Cumulus before dissipating through the afternoon leaving unbroken sunshine and Cirrus. Perfect maximum of 23.2c and a refreshing breeze.

Highly impressive diurnal range, 30.9c max then 11.1c min!
Slight change this morning with a few feathers of Cirrus and a breeze from the off.
