11 days into the year and no measurable rainfall. Added to the dry last week of December it’s noticeably dry now.

3c and cloudy is dreadful because you are thinking how sunny and crisp it could've been if the high wasn't cloudy like all of this week.
Yes, give me sunny/frosty 6c max and -3c min any day over, say, cloudy 5c/4c or 8c/7c.

We have actually had some weather! A few sharp showers and gusty winds.
-
Bright shiny object in the Southern sky alert! Just for a few minutes though as gloomy again now. 8.7c and breezier than for ages.

Very frosty, 2 days worth on the lawn which I love happening, but just above freezing at 0.1c due to cloud.
-
Winter occurrence alert! Frost has remained in the shade all day on the lawn!

Steady on! Below 5c (just) and clear sky!

Never mind cold...some of these charts are starting to scream potential water problems down the road if we don't start getting these weather systems through.
After a long hot summer this is not good.
Not in the SW regions, I have recorded 244mm in November/December.

It’s been a reminiscing evening here including memories of the heatwave and Beasts. Out of those come the years lowest temperature which was -6.5c on my 40th birthday and the highest of 32.2c within a remarkable run of 26c+ days.

STOP PRESS!
A dry, clear, moonlit morning! Quite cold too, 2.7c .

I never thought having a toddler at Christmas would be so much fun!
It has been a mild day but actually the coolest Christmas Day since 2014.
Vile drizzle at the moment, 9.3c .

Happy Christmas my fellow SW weather followers!
A very benign day today, dry being the main feature.

Is it Spring? 9.4c, calmer, bright/cloudy, daffodils sprouting well.

10mm from yesterdays showers / overnight, as with other places it is very gusty today but bright too. I have put bedding on the line to see if it dries in the constant wind, would be amazing for it to dry seeing as there's no sun on it. Yoyo temperature too today ; started at 12.9c, dropped to 9.4c around 10.00 and back up to 11.2c now.

It's lovely here. Weather like this for next Tue/Wed would do just fine for me.
Looking at the fax charts there are a few warm fronts that drift North on Sunday/Monday so I expect a lot of murk/low cloud will be left behind. The higher pressure should prevent anything more than drizzle but this time of year it won't burn off, whereas from April-September it would. Probably boring temperatures of 10c max and 8c min!!

Amusingly this is 7th fine weekday out of 8, the exception obviously being yesterday.
Beginning to look like a weekend of 2 halves this time, unfortunately for us the 2nd half looks worst because we’re booked in to go to Longleat on Sunday!
-
21mm today and up to 94mm for the month. Roll on some sunshine tomorrow and, if there must be showers then hopefully there will be some spectacular cloudscapes.

I know, it's abysmal out there. Here's for a cold January and maybe Christmas! Or am I pushing my luck with the latter, hope not.
Even in the amazing summer there were 3 terrible Sundays!
