  1. We'll see about that, Mr Weather App. :/ But I bet the storms will break out North of here leaving the Storm Shield in Solihull and Birmingham (and probably most other areas of the Central/Southern West Midlands) intact!
  2. I totally agree with you. We'd push them all towards Leicester and Solihull - nobody else would have them
  3. Ar, that's good! Just took a little peek through the window and not seen anything at the moment. Then again, my view to the East/South-East/South is obscured by a number of trees. Secretly wished it could have tracked further North.
  4. Yeah, sorry, the stuff from the channel was the storms I was referring to. Should have made that more clear That large storm around the London area does look impressive though. Imagine that being over the West Midlands (but what would the chances of having a storm like that over us be, lol. Probably a good thing it's missing here, though, considering the possible damage that MCS could be causing). Still it would be nice to have it close enough to see the flashes etc. And indeed! Just been a really bad year for storms in our part and it would be nice to get released from the pesky No Storms Club!
  5. That's what I hope will come and give our West Midlands Storm Shield a good ol' thump!
  6. Just hoping as that trough to the South of the UK tracks further North-Eastwards, it'll carry storms further North/North-East with it. Would save having to travel (and I suppose as longs we don't end up over any gaps, lol)
  7. Terminated the second pic for you Edit: Great shot by the way
  8. A few small cumulus clouds poking up from the South-East moving in a North-Westerly direction right now. One of them expanding slightly as it passes overhead
  9. Yeah, it's annoyong really. Just want to see a decent storm (like I'm sure you probably do as well). Hopefully this Summer will surprise us in some way! At least it's been pretty bright or sunny at times
  10. Got to agree. I definitely remember back in the earlier 2000's, and during the 90's, that thunderstorms seemed a fair bit more common. Particularly before 2010, I remember numerous incidences of warm, hot, bright days followed torrential afternoon thunderstorms! Haven't had many of those in the last few years. Apart from the odd shower with the odd rumble of thunder, this has certainly been a bad year for storms so far! Though North Midlands do appear to have done better. Just want out of the No Storms Club. Bored of it (lol). Same for the No Snow Club!
  11. Yeah, mind you, that could very well happen if next weeks more settled spell fails to materialise. Might have to open up the Netweather Pram store (lol).
  12. The 6 to 10 day and the 8 to 14 day 500mb anomaly charts from the NOAA seem to be buying into the idea of a more High Pressure dominated setup developing over the UK with less of a cooler, cyclonic influence. While it's not a super strong signal, the bump in the 500mb flow over the UK accompnaied by some fairly higher than average heights in that area - especially to the North of the UK - does suggest a more settled Summery spell is a real possibility. Shows troughing in the mid and Western Atlantic (big dip in the green line along with lower than average heights in that area) showing possibilities of digging far enough South, which may help pump up the Azores ridge far enough over the UK. And perhaps allow a thundery breakdown from between the West and South eventually (although I admit I'm getting ahead of myself, there) http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/610day/500mb.php http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/814day/500mb.php It would make a nice break from some of the blabby weather that has invaded our island over the last few days. Would personally be great for confidence to continue to grow for this and have the High building far enough North over the UK. But it's good to see the NOAA flirting with a less cyclonic outlook in line with what the models portray, especially GFS. I think a picnic with our teddies could be in order!
  13. Been having a bit of a downpour here from a very big shower that seems to have intensified a little over Central West Midlands. But it's not enough to terminate the Super Solid Solihull Storm Shield! Well done to anyone who has caught a flashy storm today, though!
  14. Hopefully the shield will collapse on Sunday night and into Monday!
  15. Doing a radar grab from around 4:30pm, and it looks as though there was quite a monsterous little shower/storm East of Solihull towards Hampton-In-Arden, Meriden and Coventry way!
  16. The chilly, cloudy, damp weather can just vanish now! A depressing day today. Chilly weather can be a real waste when it's no longer cold enough for wintry precipitation.
  17. Showers, at least here, were initially quite wintry with hail and graupel, although some of the latest showers (including the one overhead right now) have been just pure rain
  18. Had a light to moderate soft hail shower earlier with *gulp* backedge rain!
  19. Another sleet/graupel/snow shower recently disarming the Solihull Snow Shield! Dew Point around -2*C Edit: the current shower is now producing rain/sleety rain
  20. Just had soft hail/wet pellet-like snow shower here!
