  1. Please use this thread for your discussions about the current weather or what is being forecast for the next few days in the South East and East Anglia...please remember these regional threads were set up to talk about local conditions and your thoughts on how things are panning out so can we keep things light and topical and avoid any personal remarks - Thanks!!

Heavy, blustery wintry showers will affect parts of eastern and northeastern England from Wednesday morning. Accumulations of snow are likely to be quite small over low-lying areas until the overnight period, when 1-3 cm may occur away from the immediate coast. However, over higher ground, for example the North York Moors and Wolds, accumulations of snow around 5 to 10 cm may build up.

Icy stretches will also develop on untreated surfaces during Wednesday evening and overnight into Thursday.

The public should be aware of the potential for disruption, especially to travel.

  4. UKMO has snowmageddon on the cards around 144 next week, could be an extended holiday if that verifies as looking like 18" snow according to a Dutch expert

    Morning all,

I've just gone round the garden putting everything back where it should be, one garden chair had blown quite a distance and wedged it's self in a bush, ice on the bin lid as well !!

Chilly, breezy and snow flake symbols on the weather station - lovely bright morning at the moment with clear blue sky and just a few wispy bits of Cirrus good.gif

    Have a lovely day angel.gif

Wintry showers and strong winds will continue in many areas overnight, although some clearer spells will develop in the south and east. Surfaces will remain wet from earlier showers and from continued showers of rain, sleet and snow, allowing ice to form.

The public should be aware of the risk of icy stretches on roads on pavements.

  6. Fair but perhaps a little bit harsh, I accept the car posts did drag on a little bit for a couple of pages and some could have been done by pm, but there were very few users in here at the time, the weather outside was very bland and mild and it was downtime before GFS 18z rolled out and once it did it got back on topic quickly. A little bit of off topic banter is not always a bad thing at quiet times and this forum has been very quiet since the last cold spell.

By no means meant to be criticism, only an observation.biggrin.png

You may feel it was a bit harsh but it’s in the interests of keeping all the regional threads running smoothly, these are the things that happen on forums, it's nothing personal just the forum team trying to make sure everybody who wants to can enjoy using Netweather without undue spam/off topic posting/aggressive posting/offensive posting or in this case posts starting to drift too far away from weather and region based discussion.

The Moderators are all in agreement with the fact that these regional threads are going to be more chatty and sociable, if you look at pretty much all of the other regional’s then you will see that this one tends to be more ‘off topic’ than any of the others which is something we are all guilty of at times and in moderation is fine, I think we are a great bunch who all enjoy a bit of banter and the happy atmosphere in here.

What is important to bear in mind though is there is always the risk that an individual or individuals can literally take over with excessive posting and drown out informative posts. This is something we're keen to prevent as it's really not helpful to the number of people who want to turn up here and read/chat about the weather in their location if the topic of conversation is football or cars!

  7. I think I might have had one too many and clearly on the wrong forum so I will bid you all goodnight

I was thinking exactly the same thing myself.....I've been looking through this thread and the number of totally off topic post is getting a bit silly now, they do nothing to add to the regional discussion and some informative posts are getting lost.

These regional threads were set up to discuss local forecasts and conditions .. so can we please stick to that please?

I suggest you go to the chat room or post in a relevant thread in the lounge area for all other topics....thanks good.gif
