Morning all, some of you had a long old night sitting up watching your lamposts....
Does anyone else get an urge to go for a wee walk in snow, even if it's 2am
Gritter went down the main road about half an hour ago. The road is now virtually covered
In grit ? ..........isn't that the idea
Tut there goes the lampost.
Where did it go
Woke up to much more than the slushy mess I was expecting here, I haven't been out and measured yet but I'm guessing 3-4cm if not more....and sits just started to snow again

What's a deformation band?
It's the opposite from a Convergence Zone...As the air rises, it condenses, bringing clouds and rain, where as with a Convergence Zone, it's colliding winds that force air upward and provides convection, deformation bands pull air upwards to provide convection...I think that's right anyway !

god not more naked snow angels lol
Not this one....I'm all cosy in my pink fleecy onesie

Blizzards whiteout :-)
Please update your profile to show your location as New England !!

Get yourself over to Epping!
Horizontal snow and its settled everywhere!
Unless your in 2 places at once of course!
I love how members can assume your weather conditions 40 miles away!!
Why would we lie?
Nobody has said anyone is lying in a post in here that I've seen, just some over enthusiastic posts about conditions which can be misleading to others.
In a true blizzard there would be prolonged snow storms lasting several hours with winds over 35mph and reduced vision of 400m or less, and in a whiteout there would be total loss of vision and orientation.
It's understandable that a lot of emotion is creeping into the thread, some are going to do better than others and disappointing as it is to miss out some people would really do themselves (and others) a favour by easing off with negativity.
Please lets try and keep the thread topical, cheerful and positive

I know the feeling when you get to my age

Repeat of the earlier Met O warnings for anyone who missed them...
Yellow Warning of Snow for London & South East England :
Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Greater London, Kent, Medway, Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire, West Berkshire, Hampshire, Wokingham, Reading, Windsor and Maidenhead, Bracknell Forest, Slough & Surrey
Yellow Warning of Snow for East of England :
Bedford, Cambridgeshire, Central Bedfordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Luton, Norfolk, Peterborough, Southend-on-Sea, Suffolk & Thurrock
Valid from: 0600 on Sun 10 Feb 2013
Valid to: 0700 on Mon 11 Feb 2013
Rain is expected to gradually turn to sleet and snow as it spreads eastwards during Sunday. Settling snow will be mostly limited to the south Pennines at first, but is likely to become rather more widespread by evening. Even then, cover is likely to be variable, with some places seeing very little, others 2-4 cm and with the potential for 10 cm or more over parts of the south Pennines and 5 to 10 cm for Kent, and more locally over the Midlands and Essex.
Overnight into Monday morning, there is a risk of an area of snow moving westwards across parts of the south Midlands, east and southeast Wales and southern England, with a few cm in places, particularly over higher ground. This warning is updated to cater for this risk.
The public should be aware of the risk of disruption, particularly to travel.

I have to say MK, I didn't experience an orgasmic moment... far from it!
No it wasn't that good....I just meant maybe I should have had what some on here have been on rather than the wine and coffee I enjoyed earlier
-
Well I've just had a 'When Harry met Sally' moment catching up on tonight's posts, I've no idea what you lot have been on this evening (I just had a couple of glasses of Zinfandel and a coffee) but jeez it's been a strange night in here !
