Fog is more likely to form first across East Anglia, but may not form across the London area and other more southern counties until late in the night or first light on Tuesday.

Morning all,
Just got back from my lovely early morning walk, thick frost when I set off which has gone now apart from in the shady places - the sun is shining, the birds are singing - what a glorious day it is....dare I say it but do we really want any more snow now ?
I'd be happy with dry cold and bright I think, unless of course we are going to get some record breaking stuff, but I can't see that happening !
Enjoy your Sunday folks

Hi Can someone tell me if these are trying to be funnel clouds? They were taken over Clacton today. Thanks
Edit: It's the same cloud, only the second one was taken 2 hours later
I'm not sure if this will help until an expert comes along...

...but it certainly looks as if there was some rotation there to me, what an exciting spot well done

Having meet some of you before Christmas I know what a great bunch of people you are and hopefully in the future there will be more chances for us all to get together.
Chris
Oh I'm sure there will be Chris....Netweather is 10 years old this year, not that we need an excuse to party
I'm trying not to get too caught up with the excitement regarding the potential for snow next week it could go either way at this stage, as always let's get the cold here first and then see what happens....

Morning you lovely bunch of people,
I just want to echo the thoughts and sentiments of others on here and pass on my condolences to John (I lost my Mum just over 5 years ago so I know what a tough time your having) best wishes to Lollypop and her Mum for a speedy recovery, and huge congratulations to Leemondo and family on the safe arrival of Noah (my first born was a forceps birth and it's not pleasant but it's amazing how quick you forget the pain when you hold the baby) ....and hugs to anyone else who needs one today
I've had an early jaunt this morning, it's dry reasonably mild and quite pleasant out there, I was warm enough in a sweatshirt and body warmer rather than my big coat which made a change - have a great weekend folks

We might have missed the Meteor (or rather it missed us) but there is always a chance of seeing Asteroid DA14 tonight ...It is due to fly past Earth in a few hours. It's 50 metres across and will pass just 17,100 miles above our heads. Although there is no danger of a collision, it's still passing much closer than any other known asteroid and closer than many man made satellites.
NASA will be doing a live stream of the asteroid as it passes us by, so don't despair if it won't be visible from your area. The stream will begin at 19:00 GMT/14:00 EST/11:00 PST. You'll be able to watch it here:http://bit.ly/WMWitd
And there is this to look forward to next year ....

Have a lovely weekend everyone - I hope things improve for those of you going through sad/bad times and best wishes for the birth of your baby Leemondo.... keep us posted

Wow poor Russians, amazing footage of that meteorite .scary though.
Never mind the beast from the east this beast was 10 tonnes, have a listen if you want to know what a meteorite exploding at 30,000m sounds like.....

How the Met Office create their forecasts...

Aww poor Cambs...they never get included in the counties at the top anymore.
It's nothing personal I can only use a max of 10 tags, so when we were 3 Counties and East Anglia I could tag Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Luton and Milton Keynes separately but it's that lot from the south East taking up all the tags .....I suppose I could accidentally forget Kent or Sussex next time
It's been a bit showery here this afternoon, some nice clouds as well

My last little bit of snow is hanging on in the front garden...
....it's in a shady spot though, everywhere else is muddly puddles, nice blue sky and sunshine with temperature up to 9.7 °C here today - feels quite spring like
Let's have a new thread while I'm here .....

Uppers to warm for snow now I'm afraid
the uppers might be but it's not balmy down here...
Temperature 1.3 °C
Dew Point 0.3 °C
...I'm feeling cold tonight !
-
It's been snowing steadily for about an hour here...
Temperature 0.9 °C Dew Point -0.8 °C
....nothing settling though, but yet another day this winter when I've seen snow falling from the sky
-
MK- Im surpised that you arent seeing a bit of a flurry now-
My rain alarm went off a while ago but nothing is falling to the ground !
-
If only you had been one day sooner you would have seen the best of it, by yesterday there had been quite a reduction in snow cover and the trees were bare again. I love it when it sticks to the branches although it was sad to see a couple of old trees that the sheer weight of it had proved too much for, still someone is enjoying the logs in their fire by now I guess !!
It's quite chilly today, I'm surprised it's only 1.3 °C I thought it was going to warm up a bit more than that today, maybe we will be lucky later and see some transient snow here later after all !
