Dear oh dear. Once again what looked like a promising area of rain just fizzled out as it moved north, giving barely enough to dampen the ground here. And it looks like the remaining area of heavier rain will scoot up the coast. Two of my three 50 gallon water butts now empty.

Yep, look so promising and now the east of Norfolk Suffolk and Essex unlikely now to see anything significant…Tonight was our only hope.

We had this 'doom and gloom" from the get go last summer in here.

Talk of the Atlantic waking up,North westerly, no route back to warm and settled....

The list went on and some how we ended up with a prolonged hot summer that was still going at times in October.

One day the Atlantic will awaken properly, but it has been in a slumber for nearly two years now,( all seasons)

Agree , this set up has been forecast to happen by the MO in their 3 month summer forecast

After days of clear blue sky some high cloud moving in this evening here in Suffolk. Looking at the GFS hi-res cloud forecast animation for the next 24 hours, tomorrow appears to be a day with little in the way of clear blue sky. Lots of high level cloud about ahead of the front moving in overnight Saturday into Sunday, bringing some showers, potentially thundery, for later Sunday.

Believe it when I see it….seen this so many times and never happens here in the Far East

  4. Interesting article I read online regarding summer on how  the weather pattern is shaping up for this coming summer here in the Far East.  Very unlikely we will see any storms and if any rain, with the continuation of NE ,E winds set up, the see breeze will keep most of these storms much further inland…So most likely we could be in for more weeks of cool stubborn cloud, then a slight shift in wind direction bringing heatwave conditions.

most bizarre set up that I have never seen before,

Just more of the same old grim sheet we've endured since whenever! 🥶

Awful, failed attempt by the met and BBC, saw 2hrs of a little sun, now very dark clouds here, Not holding much hope for tomorrow now, unfortunately Sunday now forecasted  for …….yep more clouds and cool

  6. Well there was hope at 9 this morning a brief blue sky here in Norfolk, but has filled in just as quick as it came along…Cannot see this breaking I really can’t, the wind is still so cold and 11c making it feel even colder….I can’t remember a time having this type of set up for so long in Norfolk….We have hardly had any sun this spring, and when we have it’s been that nagging breeze.

In a southwesterly/ southerly wind direction Norwich always leads the highest temperatures this time of year. Many times we have had temps at 25c by mid morning, then cool off a lot once the sea breeze kicks in by early afternoon, where Heathrow normally takes the lead.

Absolutely no sign of a 25c anytime soon here let alone a 30c

If this forecast comes off, this will be the worst start to May in decades and will make the woeful May 2021 seem like a pipe dream. Spring 2023, the joke that just keeps on giving.

I blame all the cold lovers who desperately wanted the SSW to happen to bring them widespread snow ❄️ and - minus day temps ...The SSW happened it didn't bring what they wanted.. but what it did bring was the change of weather patten that we are still stuck in...and where are the colds lovers now???? !!!

  9. Not too bad here in Norfolk hazy sky current temp 17.5c,..Looking rubbish here next week again, not much rain forecast but cold north or n east winds coming off a very cold sea currently…

The last few years i have smashed the 20c either in March or at least late April, been no where near that  yet. Even doesn’t look like it for the foreseeable either…

Currently next weekend looks a cool damp wash out, If it doesn’t warm up significantly in the next few weeks then before we know it the nights will start drawing in..I just have a feeling after a few years of not bad springs ( here in Norfolk ) and early summer i think 2023  may well be on the news for the very wrong reasons…

  10. oh dear...latest charts this morning from next week temps back down as low as 9c for the South East  and next BH, absolutely shocking , Does anyone recall a year of below average temps that have lasted so long? also the lack of sun.

Since I joined here in 2010, I haven't known such a poor March and April...looks like May to follow suit...If I don't record a 20c next few days this will be the first time ever for me since i started taken weather info from 2010...

Because everybody is entitled to have their preferences. What may be crap to you, may not be so to others.

I am personally looking forward to some spring warmth, but I appreciate that not everybody necessarily feels the same way.

Excatly,  I know it's a thrill for many but mid March seriously...bring on the spring warmth

  12. I have to laugh 😂 the model forum guys are still trying to be positive and finding anything they can to get that cold chart…Met office have confirmed today no hint, not a sniff of cold next 2weeks and looks like that further ahead also…Even if we did no chance on earth we will see anything like the 2 weeks in December…It’s a warming climate so unfortunately tough for cold lovers

  13. So day 9 of solid frost here , My North facing back garden has been white with Frost since Wednesday last week.. Lowest was Sunday night -7.3c, could be challenged tonight as already -4.5c,...Max temp was Tuesday at 2.3c...obviously the coldest start to Winter since 2010, but we did have lots of snow that time .. Looking forward to the mild weather lots are fed up with this cold ...We have had the fun but needs to come to an end now, a couple days on snow early Feb,  will do just nicely before a return to above normal 18c spring temps please weather gods...

  14. So 9 days of solid frost and my north facing back garden been frozen solid ever since . Been nice to see but now fed up with it like a lot of people. Apart from the model coldies who clearly don't think it's been cold or snowy enough...They do craze me sometimes....I for one have seen my little box clocking up the £££,last week, I am at the moment ok to pay the bill. However lots of our local Facebook forums are sitting in freezing cold rooms  because they can't afford it...and it does wind me up certain posters want even colder and to last all winter.. I for one will be glad to see the back of it now,

  15. First time back since the summer,

So here are my thoughts for the up coming cold snap for this part of Mid Norfolk.

The odd light sleet shower possible, but that annoying thing that always happens in this set up heavy showers just of the coast that don’t swing inland. The annoying extra cloud that we get associated with the showers means we miss the hard frost that will keep night temps just above or below. So will miss that white cover grass frost .

In a blink the cold spell will be over just before Christmas and we will be wondering what all the fuss was about .Come Jan back to mild above temp cloudy/wet dross , you heard it hear first!!!!!  👍👍👍Hahaha

  16. So September draws to a close, probably the most disappointing September for a few years for Norfolk…I was expecting this due to a very unexpected good August .However the first 5days was still summery. Its  been rather chilly and cloudy especially the last 2weeks, can’t believe how quickly my house has cooled in this time…Even had to flick the switch this evening for my sins. Came home from work and was 16c in the house. Last couple of years been middle October.

Let’s see how the rest of the year pans out…
