Yes. A bit of a chill in the breeze around this morning but the cloud melted away and now a beautiful summers day. Bit of a breeze. Wispy clouds. Blue skies.Low 20's. Some hysteria on the model thread about not coping with the predicted heat. Same as me not coping during the BFTE in Feb/March 2018 when max temps reached minus 6 . But you just plod on don't you. It's the weather.

Never going to happen,  as much as its exciting to see charts next Sunday showing 43c the chances that happening is zero, all the hype today will be gone tomorrow like it did yesterday...

  2. Well all those people who posted the 10 days fantasy charts all disappeared again ...just normal summer weather the best of it here in EA and SE, so sorry to our friends in the NW who may only see a couple days warmth and the charts look truly awful for the next 2 weeks for those guys  ,some showing only 9c as max temp in Scotland

The GEFS 0z mean is shaping up very nicely for most of the u k during the next 10 days or so with a strongly anticyclonic influence developing, beyond that, perhaps tending to become more of a north / south split?.. which would continue to be good news for the south!..but that’s jumping a bit too far ahead, to me, this currently looks like gradually becoming the best spell of the summer so far in terms of dry and sunny weather for more of the u k than previously!!! ☀️⛅️

With charts showing at last most of the UK joining in with the summer weather, here in Norfolk we had a cracking June, apart from the 5/6 cool cloudy and damp,. Worrying concern of the lack of rain here in the Far East. If no storms develop and no signs of significant rain this coming month then would be one of the longest period of no measurable rain.

If I had £100 for everytime the doomers posted wet and washout charts that didn't verify at 7-10 days away I would be rolling init.

This is how dry its been here for us, this bamboo was lush last year. Now its nearly dead.

There are smaller trees under larger that are now dieing due to lack of water. Never seen anything like it

Completely agree, as this time last week for our area was looking at cool wet and windy , now look for this weekend…What is annoying me is the apparently more experienced model posters, who are putting down this summer…So far it’s been a typical UK summer east fairing best, while the West not so…Norfolk hardly had any rain this month only the Jubilee Sunday and a couple days after that…Not seen a drop since.

Last summer for this time of year here in Norfolk was still dry but had constant cloud cover for much of June. With next week looking fine still here I think I may rate June 9/10,

  5. So after Friday, the current charts show a pathetic 2weeks of weather,,another cool wet weekend yet again, So if these 2 weeks turn out correct, by my calculations we have 3 weeks to redeem itself before the normal crap we get In August,, climate change doesn’t seem so effect the UK in August

  6. 16c here at 10AM, and dark clouds but no rain as yet, so bizarre that I could drive 90mins to London to hit temps in the mid 20s , the joys of living in the UK.

Looking like another hot week at work yet again next week, then typicality cooling off again next weekend, before yet again the following week possibly  turning hot , Ahhhhh, so annoying…Next week off work 18th July, so that will be the week of rain and 15c just in time for the school holidays which is the norm nowadays …the weather gods know this haha

Another atrocious day. Was supposed to have been sunny intervals breezy and 20c. Instead the showers rolled in from 9am this morning. The final one cleared away at about 4.30pm. Hardly any sunshine. Great dollops of grey cloud. Windy. Cool. I looked at the rain radar and there seemed to be a line emerging from Wales of course crossing Dudley at frequent intervals. Still only one genuinely warm day at 23c back in mid May. Fed up with it. And now looking likely the 'heat' next week will in fact just be Friday. ☹☹☹

Yep haha all laughable this isn't.... today here in mid norfolk yet again lovely blue sky first couple of hours and then cloud with a bit a sun appearing for most of the day...i think right on the coast did better..least it was dry....So next Saturday now gone from possible 33c here to 18c now...

  8. Just back from North West Ireland have  some family there, after failed wet and cold August’s we thought we would try June this time …not as bad as it could have been but damp and windy most days,  however when the sun was out it did feel pleasant, not as wet as the August visits…

I do feel for those guys, my Irish cousin does get the plane from Knock to London quite often at weekends just to get some heat as he is fed up with their constant dull summer skys.

I'm nae moaning about this year's late spring-early summer weather (where does one post what isn't meant as a 'moan'?) as clearly things haven't turned out nearly as awful as some folks were predicting ... Is 20-22C really too bad for early

To be fair its only been for us... the normal SE part of the UK...I don't think some would agree elsewhere... 8 days in I would say normal typical UK summer weather so far wouldn't you think?

  10. I have now recorded more rain in the last 10 days then the entire spring, most of this fell Monday, unbelievable….no sign of any long term warmth or any settled weather…if there was to be any then here in the East and South East look favourable….2 weeks before the nights slowly pull in and still haven’t been able to sit out late into the evening…

  11. Morning All,

Sunny and a bit of cloud this morning if a little cool. Had a little bit of rain in the last week, Here in Mid Norfolk  missed most of the intense rain that past through a few days ago, and yesterday morning had some light rain that cleared .

So since 1st March I’ve only recorded 28.7mm so far, most of that came the first couple of weeks. Then only the odd mm here and there and last 7 days 4.6mm, so not a record that is Lockdown spring 2020, I only measured 19.7mm. 2021 32.7mm

However caution is needed as then following summers has brought double the rain amount if more,. Particularly August 2020 over 95mm rain this was a localised storm event which I measured over 50mm, So generally have recorded more rain days in summer than it predecessor Spring.

So interesting that my last few springs have been seeing less rainfall

Unless you look at the ECM model...

The GFS temperatures could be reached with little cloud around...but if low cloud from the North Sea hangs around all day then ECM's maximum temperatures will be more realistic.

Not sure which model is likely to have a better handle of North Sea cloud?

The GFS ensembles also are very mixed on temperatures.

It might end up nice for most next week...but equally it may well end up cloudy and cool.  And the latter looks slightly more likely to my eyes.

They have been completely wrong. This time last week for Norfolk to be covered in cloud from Tuesday onwards. We have had the opposite clear blue sky everyday since infact day this is day 10 of near broken sunshine.. Take any chart with a pinch of salt at the moment

  13. Morning all, well another nice spring sunny Morning here in Norfolk. Can't believe we are now half way through spring.

2020/2021 and as it stands 2022 hardly any rain has fallen here...After an average rainfall winter , this spring i have only recorded 16.5mm of rain since 1st March.

Yet again the 3 month spring forecast so far just like the past 2 have been completely wrong. .

I am giving it up to the 14th of Feb, and if there is still no sign of anything particularly interesting on the horizon then I am putting this winter straight into the bin. By that point we may as well fast forward to spring. I know that wintery weather is very much possible during the spring, but by that point it is too late with the longer daylight hours and increasing sun strength. So any snow we may have wouldn't last that long, if not settle at all.

As of today, I'd rate this winter 3/10. There were some nice crisp blue sky days and a reasonable number of frosts during January. Otherwise I'd be giving this winter 1/10.

Spot on completely agree...bizarrely I recorded more frosts in Jan then the last 5...Very dry in this part of Norfolk. We have the sandy soils that help the temp go down rapidly on clear blue sky days in winter, however in Norwich 18miles down the road had limited frosts....Yep 3/10 for effort thus far

  15. Very dry January, my driest since I’ve recorded since 2009 with a day to go. 6.5mm (avg 55mm) most of that was from a day of showers that came off the North Sea, so I’d expect further south east less than this.

December was a little wetter at 33.5mm (avg 60mm) half of this came on the night of the 9th again nothing compared to the 89mm December 2020…So first 14 days of February looks dry ish.

will we pay for all this come spring? I very much think we will
