  1. I'm still here!!!! Just fluffy white clouds whizzing past in the wind.....
  2. We've only had a few spots of rain today and looking at the radar, it seems that all the heavy rain is breaking up as it gets to us!
  3. Nothing worthy of note here either - it's sunny but very windy and I actually feel a bit chilly!!
  4. Strange that I'm only a stone's throw away but just got a few spots of rain.......
  5. Hi, Don't think so - although I only look at the basic radar, most of the activity seems to be either missing us or being non electrical and 'decaying' by the time we get even a hint of it. Not our time I feel......
  6. Still absolutely nothing in Portsmouth and nothing coming up on radar - at least we had some snow in January otherwise I would be feeling very hard done by weatherwise by now!!! Never thought I'd moan about blue skies and no rain lol!!! Everything seems to bypass us completely or 'split' before it gets anywhere near us!
  7. Hello all, Spent the day in Southampton - nothing but rubbish drizzle. Back in Portsmouth and it's getting very windy with a rain shower - skies look quite black but no thunder to be heard at all. Nothing for the central southern coast. Wish I was somewhere else at the moment!
  8. Lots of rain here - puddles everywhere! Wind relatively calm at the moment............
  9. I've heard about the bizarre temperature changes too - blimey!
  10. Just looked at the observations for the Solent and the wind was 3mph at 7pm compared with 23mph at 1pm!
  11. It would be quite bizarre to have no wind at all! It's still very calm outside. One of the benefits of all the rain is that it keeps a lot of the yobs off the streets
  12. I'm going by the met office warnings which emphasise the heavy rain rather than really severe winds which are reserved for France unfortunately (in the sense that it's unfortunate for them and I do hope people stay safe naturally). As most of it seems to be overnight I'll probably be asleep but someone in London has reported thunder/lightening. Does anyone know if the low will generate any thunder?
  13. Cool! I didn't think that thunder was forecast for this storm!
  14. I know, sobering thoughts indeed.
  15. Hi Stormboy, Thanks for that, she's recovering from shingles at the moment too so hopefully she'll be ok. Luckily she hasn't had any problems with flooding previously but my cousin who lives about half a mile from her had her house flooded when the sea came over in the high spring tides about 4 years ago. They are lucky to have seaviews but can be a bit dodgy in storms! Just started to rain here, my other half's gone to get a curry so hope he doesn't get too wet! Take care
  16. Sorry to hear that, hope she's ok. Try not to worry too much, my cousin works in our local hospital and she says that very good contingency/emergency plans are always put in place for possible severe events. They sent a 4x4 to take her to work in all the snow we had!
  17. Thanks Kent - the last storm we had she was busy taking photos bless her! Just got both my cats in as I can see some rain heading towards us already on the radar like you say. They've been busy bringing in frogs and toads this week with all the rain so I don't want anymore tonight! They don't hurt them but it's disconcerting having them hopping everywhere!! I'm not sure that the wind will be anything stronger than we're used to though but if it is I may venture down to the seafront to have a look at the waves myself!
  18. Hi Kent, I thought the very same thing - been outside and everything is very calm and still.............. my nan lives on the seafront at Hayling Island and the beach is literally at the end of her back garden, she's all prepared just in case but said she loves watching big waves coming over the top of the wall, yikes!
  19. We've had a good day so far, no showers and none on the radar for us either as far as I can see. At least it gives things a chance to dry out before tomorrow's deluge. I might venture down the seafront and watch the waves if I can see anything through the blasted rain!
  20. It's finally stopped raining and looking at the radar, it will be a nice period of respite (my other half is also pleased as he has to go out in a minute!) Cue our cats to go out now and come back with a nice big toad or two (like they did last night lol!)
  21. Goodness me - we actually have some snowflakes mixed in with the rain..........!!! Didn't see that coming
  22. I wanted snow as well but living here I've got more chance of seeing a tornado in my back garden! Got a lovely jammed motorway to look forward to instead, the joys.....!!
  23. Well we're having a heavy rain shower here, the first of many for this coming week, and it's depressing to say the least. Tomorrow morning will be diabolical especially as schools are back and our M27 motorway grinds to a halt every morning (and that's when its dry and no accidents!) so here's hoping I go to bed and wake up next Monday instead!
