  1. Low this morning of +1.8c, again very cold for October here on the coast. -1c was the low up at Leuchars. @Kirkcaldy Weather I don’t have a reliable rain gauge but going by the SEPA figures we were slightly above your 3 day total at 30.8mm. That compares with just shy of 60mm on the 7th/8th which explains why the roads were much worse here earlier in the month!
  2. Should be okay. They were worse around here during the wet spell two weekends ago. The rain has been steady rather than heavy locally. The A92 is still closed at Rathillet though. Hope the day goes well. The screenshot from SEPA shows how it was much wetter here a couple of weeks back
  3. Amazing the range of rainfall totals across relatively short distances in Fife (from the SEPA website). We've had 21mm in the last 36 hours (at St Monan's which is about a mile from me) but further down the coast at Kinghorn just 4mm. Strathkinnes, which is near St Andrews has had 54mm and then when you cross the Tay the numbers really ramp up. Highest I've seen is 177mm (Waterside Perth, NW of Edzell).
  4. Bit wild out although the wind more of an issue than the rainfall here in Pittenweem. IMG_6771.mov
  5. Rain back on here, I suspect the dry slot will be short-lived! Winds gusting to 75mph Inverbervie and 63 Leuchars.
  6. The rain band has shifted north for now, it’s dry here in Pittenweem. Southern edge looks close to Dundee for now. Wind gusting to 70mph ish on the immediate coast.
  7. Good luck with the wedding plans! We’re just outside the Amber zone for rain but St Andrews is inside it. All a bit academic of course, it’s going to be nasty. Stay safe!
  8. Yes it was stunning. Cold night here too, unusual to have to scrape the car here in coastal East Neuk in mid-October. I mean we didn’t have our first air frost until December 8th last year! Min was 2.1c here in Pittenweem but -1c along the road at Leuchars. Feels nice now in the sun and with no wind.
  9. I drove up to Andrews and back but probably shouldn’t have. A lot of standing water in NE Fife. Staying home for the rest of the day.
  10. Wow. Awful scenes. Very wet here this morning, heaviest spell yet. We were sitting on 75mm for this event but this morning’s deluge will have added to that. Given we only average ~650mm a year in the coastal East Neuk it’s a substantial chunk of the annual rainfall.
  11. @Norrance Sometimes following the weather is a practically useful as well as fun hobby! Hope everyone gets out. Saw the photos from Beinglas campsite on the West Highland Way (a favourite). It’s basically under water. A number of road closures now, things are getting serious. Take care, folks.
  12. Yes indeed, walk up the hill and then to Killiecrankie and back along the river to Pitlochry.
  13. Got out today before the rains. Was meant to be camping in Aberfeldy Fri & Sat night but changed my mind
  14. Yeah, similar here. I was down south on Sunday but it was pretty bad here with a couple of downed trees. Anyway not a pleasant evening!
  15. Warmest day of the year here in NE Fife. 25c at home in Pittenweem and 27c at Leuchars. Lovely!
  16. Haar and then low cloud for most of the day but it broke up for a while this afternoon. Max was 18c.
  17. Yes same here, some 7c cooler (18c v 25c) than yesterday afternoon due to the North Sea Aircon. Still a pleasant early Autumn day but the wind is noticeable!
  18. Another lovely September day and warmer, 25c at Leuchars (27c at Aberdeen and Aboyne). August is forgotten. It will turn cooler here after tomorrow with the risk of haar as the wind shifts.
  19. Well, after a drab August, September has started out in grand fashion with two lovely days. 22c in NE Fife today under mostly sunny skies. Very welcome!
  20. Another uninspiring August day here, mostly cloudy although at least it was dry, unlike yesterday when I got soaked walking the coastal path (forecast was a bust). Definitely a month to forget, I see Eskdalemuir is sitting on the grand total of 54 hours of sunshine so far!
  21. Evening all, We’re in the warning area again but it’s been dry thus far. To be fair it extends through 9am tomorrow so plenty of time yet. However it’s our sixth thunderstorm warning of the summer by my count and I’ve only seen a couple of very brief flashes of lightning and a rumble or two of thunder in total. Thunderstorms are rare here so pretty amazed to be in six warnings in the one summer!
  22. Received about 7mm from the overnight rain. More like 20mm or slightly more for western Fife. Humid air, dew points were up to 17c.
