  1. Nice. Definitely the place to be today. Was over a couple of years ago and loved it. Meanwhile it’s got worse here. Thick drizzle is on. Feels like October!
  2. Feeling very cool in NE Fife under grey skies and with a keen wind. 15c. Bring on the westerlies!
  3. tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/weather/current/EGQL.html The hourly reports from Leuchars sum it up, grey and cool with an onshore easterly. Looks better here early next week as winds swing around to the west.
  4. One of the best days of the summer here. 23c with good spells of sunshine. Most welcome.
  5. We dodged most of the rain here, just a couple of showers this morning. But another disappointing summer’s day. Cool and grey, 14c at best.
  6. Certainly a lot better than today. Cloudy and wet, 14c. July has been underwhelming to say the least. The figures will be out soon but most stations in Scotland will be considerably wetter and with less sunshine than average. Temperature means slightly below in general but that’s pretty academic.
  7. Yep, we had a heavy shower around 3.30pm. But full-blown thunder and lightning here now, first I’ve heard/seen this year!
  8. Congratulations @Northernlights! One of the best days of the month, not that the competition is great. Sunny spells when we were up Kinnoull Hill in Perth and sunny back home in Pittenweem until about 10 minutes ago when we caught a shower. Max 18c Forecast has backed off from heavy rain here tomorrow, now only a mention of patchy light rain, looks like the rain band has shifted south.
  9. Yes, same here. I’ve counted 5 warnings so far but yet to hear a rumble of thunder. More chance of snow here in coastal NE Fife! [I do recall a very impressive storm locally in June 2007 so it can happen.] Sunny spells after a couple of sharp showers earlier.
  10. Well we’re certainly paying for June! Some places (eg Stornaway, Tulloch Bridge) have already passed their monthly rainfall averages and it’s only the 12th! Even here in normally dry NE Fife we’ve had some measurable rainfall on every day of the month so far. The models definitely not offering hope of a return to drier and sunnier conditions in the short term unfortunately! Some hefty showers around Fife this afternoon with plenty of standing water on the roads.
  11. I think that’s the 4th time we’ve been under a thunderstorm warning this summer but I’m yet to hear so much as a rumble! In the end we saw very little rainfall either about 4mm. A haar-filled start to Sunday but it should clear.
  12. I was up at Roybridge a few weeks back and had a lovely few days (temp in the mid-20s didn’t hurt). You’ll be unlucky not to see a red squirrel up there! Sunny start here in Pittenweem but clouding over now. Wind back to the east so temperature suppressed to 17c. I see it’s 25c around Aviemore/Inverness already.
  13. Leuchars managed 18.8c yesterday in the morning sun but the wind meant it felt cool. Dire this morning 10c/10c with grey skies and heavy drizzle and a light easterly breeze. Late October anyone? Despite a brief warm-up at the weekend unfortunately cool and unsettled looks to be the theme for the first half of July.
  14. Indeed. Leuchars went from 24/16c at Midday to 17/13c at 4 pm. Looks like the thunderstorms are offshore to our east. Main rain band edging slowly towards us but it’s still dry here.
  15. Comfortably the warmest day of the year here by a wide margin. 26c even in coastal NE Fife this afternoon. Lovely breeze too to make it very pleasant. @Mair Snaw as others have said morning looks best tomorrow but showers will be hit and miss. We were under a thunderstorm warning on Wednesday afternoon and stayed dry, such is the nature of storms.
  16. A spell of heavy rain yesterday evening and then a very mild night, minimum here was 16.8c. Currently 18c with some sun.
  17. It’s certainly been a month of two halves here so far. The first 11 days of June saw max temperatures below 18c every day (7 of those were 14c or lower!). The last 11 days have seen max temperatures above 18c every day, with 6 of those above 20c. Basically summer started on June 12th in NE Fife.
  18. We were in the warning area this afternoon but it’s stayed dry. Temperature up to 23c again, what a contrast to early June when we were under grey easterly skies and struggling in the low teens. Folks out west may disagree but let’s keep westerlies for the rest of the summer!
  19. Warmest day of the year here (23c) as the wind switches to SWly after what feels like weeks of an easterly influence. Sunny skies this afternoon. Looks like about 28mm locally from last night’s rain.
  20. Thanks for the update @Kirkcaldy Weather I’m actually away for a long weekend up at Roybridge. Been enjoying the heat away from the east coast. Hopefully the rainfall doesn’t cause too many problems, I’ll be back in Fife tomorrow.
  21. First 21c/70f reading of the year here in coastal NE Fife with Leuchars finally reaching the magic number this afternoon. Similar temperature in my back garden. Monthly mean still below average but the sunshine of this week has been such a pleasant contrast to the gloom of last week!
  22. Still waiting on that elusive 21c/70f but no complaints from me this week, gone is the overcast cool dreich of last week. Sunny skies and 18c. Inland parts of NE Fife are sitting around 25c.
  23. Leuchars recorded 19c this morning making it comfortably the warmest day of June thus far (and also a far cry from the hot temperatures being discussed above!). The east/west divide is illustrated by the June 2023 mean maximum at Glasgow Bishopton being 21.1c to date while over at Inverbervie it’s 12.3c! Haar hanging on here in Pittenweem, 15c.
  24. Didn’t hear anything although there were big planes taking off from Leuchars on Friday. Overnight low 12c here. We scraped 16c yesterday for the warmest day in almost two weeks. Still waiting on that first warm 21c/70f day. Overcast at present but the forecast suggests brighter skies for this afternoon.
  25. Easily the best day of the week here as the sun was out albeit hazy and the haar isn’t far away. Good timing as we were out on the Isle of May. Puffins put on a great show. Can’t have been more than 12c on the island. Max of 16c back in Pittenweem.
