Temperature is dropping very rapidly here, doesn't really make any sense - but I guess thats the remaining snow doing that! The NWly wind has died back here and I can't imagine it'll return until around dawn so an air frost is a near certainty, even before midnight. Perhaps down to -2 or -3? Doubtful but you never know.
Currently 1.8C and dropping at the rate of 1C/30 mins.
That's an incredible difference between one side of Wirral to the other! Is your temp gauge on your chimney too lol ;-)

Temp has gone up from 2.7 to 3.1. This evening :-(
-
its like 2010 all over again
Wish is was 2010 I would love another winter like last :-)
-
Just had a heavy dollop of snow here in Birkenhead - only sticking to already accumulated patches - mostly melted and sky looks to be brightening from the Irish Sea

Gone from 2 to 2.4 in 45 minutes

Pasted from previous thread -ahhh Wallasey is colder than Heswall.. I wonder how many times that happens?
Currently 2.9C here!
It only happens when Santa comes along the road on his way back to the North Pole :-). (Wallasey Lions ! )
-
Temp over here is down to 2. :-)
-
We have this strange microclimate here regarding the wind, it's always southwesterly no matter what the true direction.. currently 3.4C now and I see cloud to the west so itll probably rise further.
I'd be surprised if Wallasey got snow in this setup.. mind you have you ever found the Breck has snow and the Seacombe to New Brighton path doesn't? It would be interesting to see if that ever happened.
I'll go take a look next time it snows around here ;-)
-
Temp here gone from 3.9 to 3.4 in the past couple of hours. If we do get any snow tomorrow night it'll all be washed away by morning I suspect :-(
-
Does anyone else have the feeling that we're going to miss out on the storm later this week? What with France being on alert and the met office hedging their bets I can't see us getting so much as a sniff of a gale :-(
-
Great idea I really enjoy these - very informative ! Thanks

ECM in FI brings in some rather mild air
A little bit of straw clutching going on I think

I guess what Ice Pop may be trying to say (correct me if I'm wrong!) is that it seems to odd to join a weather enthusiast forum when the weather you like is well.....nothing.
Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I suppose it's like joining a sports car enthusiast forum when what you like is a reliable Citroen Berlingo.
Spot on :-)

It's no surprise at all that we all have different views about extreme weather events, but it is a great surprise to find people on a weather forum who judge those who like extremes as being somehow ignorant or indifferent to its consequences.
What really surprises me are those in here who's weather preferences are mild, no snow, no wind and a bit more mild! Now that's a shocker!!

I apologise if I'm about to offend or upset anyone here but why is it that some posters are made to feel bad for wanting a major storm so pass over their way?
I would like to experience some extreme weather events in my lifetime and I will not apologise for that. Obviously there is going to be the risk of damage and maybe worse but this is NATURE! We are a part of that, and there's no reason I can see that myself and others should be made to feel stupid or ignorant of the possible outcomes just because we crave the experience of extremes.

Lots going on this next week which could effect the NW so where is everyone?
I'm here - watching, waiting, and waiting some more. Just glad I dont live in Ireland looking over the models!
-
An hour without a post! This time last year there would have been enough within an hour to fill 20 pages!
I believe it's called the calm before the storm.
-
Is this the nice friendly thread? Been lurking in Model Output Discussion and tempers are getting more and more frayed by the day lol :-). Oooo the desperation for cold and snow is really showing now!
-
A tropical 5C here at the moment. I wouldn't say its been a particularly cold spell, and I have a good measuring stick.. the summer bedding is still in flower, and the houseplants are still outside!
A balmy 6 over this side of Wirral ....... :-(
-
Crosby recording gusts over 70 mph now ....... I'm keeping a close eye on the trampoline outside!
-
Getting some very strong gusts here at the moments- would hazard a guess at 65mph
-
My ears are telling me something - they're trying to pop!
-
It's pretty nasty outside here now - lashing rain and winds but I've seen worse
