  1. Hats off to the MO re their yellow warning areas. I thought 'how the heck can they be so confident of the areas which they've specifically highlighted''??? But, having watched the radar (so far) they have been right on the money. The heaviest and prolonged pulses of rain are literally as per their warning areas... and the 2nd front incoming (but not yet visible) is apparently even more potent! Quite substantial rain totals building up in the next 12 hours to come...
  2. Always great to see you on here Like myself, youre 100% dedicated to this forum, year in year out. We don't need to be Einstein's, we have others who input the most comprehensive and formative posts day in day out... Thank you all Keep going with the Stella's and sausage baps - I can guarantee you've got all of this amazing forum tucking in to your year on year generosity...
  3. Yeah I'm work-based in city centre, and can vouch what I saw earlier this morning was insane... But... there's a lot worse almost knocking on our door . Have a good day and keep safe
  4. Currently nearing the end of my night shift (finish at 06:30). Witnessed torrential rain & flooding at 2am, and sounds like round 2 arrives just in time for when I get home to get some sleep...
  5. Absolutely - quite rare for Plymouth to get an amber alert for wind, but I'm really now taking this seriously as the highest impact is during commute time... and when I will be finishing my shift at 06:30!
  6. That's that dodgy street light outsider your house. Don't worry I reported the issue yesterday..
  7. No sympathy required - just letting you know that I was away for the weekend, took a break in north Cornwall. Drove back home at 10am today, through dark skies and heavy rain (no sferics or dstant thunder throughout my stay). So, despite reports of lightning/thunder around my home city in the early hours, I can officially declare that I haven't seen a half-decent storm this year... We'll done all who's seen any action this weekend, and good luck for all waiting on tonight's potential...
  8. Has anyone told the poor guy that all fish are out of the water watching the impressive light show???
  9. That's my 2nd home (the flag reads "storm castle"). Who the devil has been on my driveway to take this shot?? Ha! In all seriousness that is a beaut of a cellular structure!
  10. Gutted for you... and I've just crossed off Reigate from my house purchasing criteria...
  11. Not much to ask... but why can't we have a 1,500 mile long active storm front as per current activity below...
  12. Agreed! Just tried to edit my last post to say the same... Ah well, tomorrow's another day... and agreed, good luck all
  13. Wish I could tell you what's visibly kicking off off-shore, but sods law I'm currently away this weekend, due-north, in Bude, north Cornwall. Typical. Looking at current maps and it appears that Plymouth, W/Devon will see a light show imminently... but will it continue northwards with a light-show is anyone's bloody guess! I personally feel that tomorrow is your (and ours) best bet for storm action
  14. Valid and reasonable opinions... but in the last 30 minutes things seem to be suddendly 'stirring' due south. Not saying this is the transition to more potent outcomes heading our way right now.......but I believe this is the turning point, and one to watch in the coming hours...
  15. @Aiden2012 @Mapantz Yes just refreshed on Blitzortung and it appears that the 'refresh button' has been pressed for Biscay hash tag northwards...
  16. Given the current charts churning out (for tomorrow) right now, I think even if we stick to middle ground probability, then I think we need to sit up and perhaps take the predictions/warning with a degree of belief... Not that I'm saying 'battle down the hatches' but perhaps maybe there is a genuine concern regarding rainfall totalls... when in general we're all to quick to 'brush aside'? I honestly don't know...???
  17. A close friend of mine who works for highways (Plymouth City Council) has echoed the concerns of Meto... adding "watch out for 'global warming style storms' hitting headlines tomorrow'". He doesn't know that I'm a weather enthusiast... so I just nodded and said "wow, crikes..." Who knows!!??
  18. Best way.... but regardless of best intentions, I always end up banging my head against my wall...
  19. I'm sure you've just done a copy & paste of your reply last night... C'mon, have a bit of optimism...
