This Atlantic hurricane development is now graded at certain to evolve now by NOOA. I’ll watch it closely as they start to predict it’s track, currently moving at less than 20mph N W from the site in the above pic, predicted to gain in strength over the coming days over the warm waters off the African coast.

The NOAA report on Atlantic hurricanes. Of real interest is the depression forming off the west coast of Africa, predicted to travel north west, then north east, meaning if it does form as a hurricane, it could possibly do a lot of damage to us. One to keep an eye on. Currently at about 60% chance of forming.
The hurricane that hits us a few years ago where there was a country wide red warning, formed here too if I recall correctly.
This is my 2nd favourite time of year, trying to predict the autumnal storms and if they'll hurt us. Only 2nd to the snow chase of course! On 29/08/2023 at 10:31, mountain shadow said:Bloody typical. Summer looks like arriving just in time for Autumn!
Actually fond of a dry bright autumn. Love a walk in an autumnal wooded area around Halloween time, just as the leaves are turning. Can produce beautiful scapes and scenery.

Any improvement in the pipeline?

I hope we've all been enjoying this glorious spell of weather? Plenty of sparks possible from Friday too...

Snowed for about an hour and then stopped, everything was white, but now the thaw has started and the skies are clearing. Didn’t even get to chuck a snowball!
-
Started to snow here and lie on grass and cars. Where I work is only 10-15 metres above sea level in north Dublin City centre. Roads still clear but deffo dropped temp in the last hour.
-
Rain (very heavy) with a bit of sleet mixed in here. Orange warning my ass!
-
Still rain here, hasn't stopped all day... Oh if that was only 2 degrees colder or so! Wind really picking up now in the last few minutes. I'm working tonight so hopefully we get to throw a few snowballs at each other after dark!
-
Heavy enough rain here now, no sign of any flakes. Met Eireann have an Orange warning kicking in from tonight, so maybe then!

Temp 3 degrees, dew point 2.5. Rain all morning with the occasional hint of sleet but that’s it. Not even the joy of watching flakes fall!!! Dublin snow shield in full effect here AGAIN!
-
Just from my experience, precipitation charts at that distance are pretty useless, we'll know 3 days or so before hand. Fingers crossed for us all!

The well fabled Dublin snow shield AGAIN in full effect. Ah well. onto the next chase!

Clear blue skies here. Not a cloud in sight. Beautiful day, but I'm well jealous looking at those pics. Enjoy it folks!

Thanks. The precipitation charts at this range are most unreliable. Looks like it will be cold enough up above us, so here's hoping we all get a nice surprise.

Some amount of hope casting here as opposed to forecasting...

GFS shows what to look for when it comes to possible Scandi developments in this setup.
Pressure still too high in the Med though. Will be of no use really!

Not a hope of a white Crimbo down here on the east coast, I do hope you guys get at the very least a covering, I put the house lights up today and with the frost on the ground I immediately felt very festive! Time for a glass of red and watch 'its a wonderful life'!

2 ice days in a row IMBY. That's pretty impressive especially not having lying snow to lower the temp.

A light dusting Thursday night and woke to a decent covering on Friday. Nothing since, even the warning for snow last night was all sleet and rain. Not great so far but at least the Dublin snow shield was broken!
-
A serious downpour (think continental thunderstorms) on the east coast just now, roadway turned into a river and the gutters didn't cope at all (not just my neglected gutters!). Loe the extremes of weather, sadly think they won't be extremes any more and more the norm!
Looking forward to a winter where that bast##d snow shield gets blasted away.- 1

So are we all looking forward to the light show this evening??

Some amount of rain here in the last 24 hours, my weather station said over 50 mm, but there may be an anomaly there with splashing. I'll investigate further!

So here is the NOAA storm track. Predicted to become Hurricane force by 11am Sunday, and it's track after will become better known. Most of the guidance I've read predict it will track N/NW and engage with the jet stream where it "could" become an influence on our little island. Certainly has caught my attention now!
