  1. Just watching BB Live and Divina is in what I'd say is 70% darkness, and here it's 80% daylight - quite a noticeable difference this time of year.
  2. What sort of problems are you having duckeyh?
  3. Yep - I've always thought it pretty rubbish too!
  4. Unlike all other UK and IE radars, that update every 5 mins, the SW Ireland radar only updates every 15 mins, so every third image includes it. Completely outwith nw's control.
  5. A beefy shower just arriving here, having developed in the last 45 minutes... No lightning about on the network yet.
  6. we always thought that when she started 18 months ago, right at the same time as the US elections.
  7. Quick thread about BBC Scotland's Judith - she is such a star: So professional, so passionate. Anyone else have a view?!
  8. Aye - just four deep mines left in the UK http://www.ukcoal.com/dm-locations (Can't remember which of these has recently, or is about to close). Just noticed the GFS 18z is forecasting sleet down to sea level here tomorrow night. Let's see if it's as accurate as tonight's temperatures in the NE might turn out
  9. Would appear so coldfingers. However, the 18z has just updated the forecast system, and the midday rainfall has eased back a little from the earlier 'torrential' that you were referring to, to merely 'heavy': http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=uk7dayx7;page=2;type=free;ct=3468~Bognor;sess=#forecast
  10. Already down to 7ºC at Newcastle - possibly your nearest site on XCW? Brrrr...
  11. Seeing as this is likely to run and run, can we put in this thread any links, resources etc. to help folk seeking to follow the eruption. Discussion can continue in the other thread as normal.
  12. Yes - breaking news now. DfT saying airspace closures Sunday - Tuesday including SE England.
  13. Folk here at work reporting snow in gardens up to 7am in West Lothian and white hills. Personally, I've seen cars with snow on them early this morning through town.
  14. I counted 10 patches on them today Mondy from the train to Lenzie. One is still quite big.
  15. lol Monders. Probably should read "initial indications are that it encountered no problems and further tests are to be carried out". EDIT - I should work for the BBC
  16. How do they know until they take the engines fully apart?
  17. National Geographic channel is currently showing the Air Crash Investigates of the BA flight in the volcanic dust when all four engines fail.
  18. Nat Geo Channel - 9pm (Sky 526) Air Crash Investigation Been on before (and it's a classic) - tells the full story of what might happen in these circumstances...
  19. Have driven Edinburgh - Oban and back this week for work, and there's plenty of snow up high, with say 25% coverage. Even the Pentlands next to Edinburgh have a handful patches left.
  20. No don't GW - this is the Arctic Ice thread.
  21. Worth posting the link to these sites for reference http://www.landscheidt.info/?q=node/50 http://www.geomag.bgs.ac.uk/education/current_activity.html
