  1. AC developing here as well, jets from Stansted passing by at 10,000' are well below it!
  2. I was going to go to the Ace cafe but it's full of chavs on scooters on a Friday night!! But seriously, west of the M25 is looking a bit meaty. Possibly frequency and ferocity of storms combined, best of both worlds. I suspect Surrey is in a good location, right in the sweet spot IMO!!
  3. I wouldn't worry too much about present conditions. This is a fluid situation with everyone and anyone at odds with eachother! If the cap gets broken then we are in for one hell of a ride in the S/SE. If it doesn't then C'est la vie! Personally I think it's going to go bang. Local conditions are not going to influence what comes next as this is an import situation on two fronts. Where they are going to meet is anyones guess but I feel the emphasis on the west of the southern UK is a little premature!
  4. I shouldn't really be wishing for storms since my friends house had its roof destroyed by lightning 10 years ago. The fire brigade finished destroying the rest of the house and he was left homeless for 12 weeks. For this reason only I decide to have buildings insurance, luckily he was insured otherwise the bill would have been approaching £100,000
  5. Less organised maybe but potentially more severe than the rest of the country if they can get started.
  6. Over in the convective discussion there's a lot of people who may very well end up disappointed tonight, we've seen it once already this year.
  7. Given that there may be an East/West split tonight with relation to the severity/frequency of storms, what would anyone prefer? Frequent but moderate storms or Infrequent but violent storms? I'm guessing the latter, that's also my preference, but if anything does show over here it won't matter so long as it does!
  8. Night time storms can be the best visually, and even appear louder due to a lower ambient noise level. I took this series last year at 3am, the final shot hasn't been photo shopped, it's literally night turned into day!
  9. Another rumble just now to my West. Very elevated, no visible lightning, very heavy but brief convective rain shower. I have a feeling it may build if it can find the energy but don't count your chickens!
  10. Was that it? One loud rumble, 20 seconds of large rain drops and it's stopped
  11. That's odd, I'm hearing lightning strikes on my MW radio but nothing on radar? I know my radio only has a reception range of ~20 miles so what's going on down in Kent I wonder?
  12. Some people need to chill. As I see it the forecasts were pretty spot on for today. The weather is a dynamic event, so many parameters can change what you expect to what you get. It's not worth the moan. As for personal insults I read above, is it really necessary?
  13. Does anyone think that small storm in the channel south of Eastbourne is going to make landfall?
  14. A small storm mid channel south of Brighton, I wonder if it has our names on it?
