  1. Very strange skies here, the frontal cloud has developed 'fingers or streaks'. Massive amounts of IC lightning spanning the whole horizon, maybe 10 miles end to end. No rain just yet, just standing in the garden with a cold beer enjoying the show!
  2. IC lightning and thunder in Basildon. MW radio going nuts!! Only the 3rd storm for today
  3. Hold your phone upright or rotate the image with windows media player. Have similar skies here, only a lot darker!
  4. I hope I can stay awake, not been asleep since 03:30 this morning after two separate storms tracked through. Now a potential MCS heading my way! 11 storms so far this year, that equals the whole of last year and it's only July!!!
  5. Planes avoiding the channel http://www.flightradar24.com/50.15,0.64/8
  6. Agreed, it's likely to scoop up some moisture as it crosses the channel so rain might be the worst element, as it makes landfall it will ramp up so coastal areas might be spared as it intensifies as it moves inland! Having said that, it's a real beast and anything can, and most likely will happen!!
  7. That was the best storm in years. Almost had a direct hit but missed my house by a few yards.
  8. You're a little misguided in your analyses, most people here do in fact enjoy winter storms and snow. The event we are awaiting is a summer phenomenon which is likely to bring Thunder and Lightning plus potentially a lot of rain. Skip forward to February and we will probably all be here. Can't really be chasing snow storms in July can we?
  9. In all fairness it can only be as accurate as the amount of stations sharing data in any particular location. But it's free so I'm happy with it, although I always drag the AM radio out when storms are forecast!
  10. Do I really want more storms? Only had 3 belters this Saturday ...... hell yeah!! Bring it on
  11. That's probably our lot for tonight. The Essex storms, 3 of them, were a bit unpredictable but gave a good show with IC and CG especially along their trailing edges. They may have fizzled out before they reached Benfleet. Let's hope we can have some decent home grown storms.
  12. 2 more CG's in less than a minute, Oh and another while I'm typing this reply. The thunder barely goes quite. Has the Croydon cell arrived yet? Bloody hell another CG out my front window. I haven't seen this much activity for many years!
  13. 3 distinct storms in one night and it's still ongoing, yet more CG's and barely a silent moment due to almost continuous thunder!
  14. Another CG and loud thunder, hang on another whilst I'm typing! This is pretty impressive ... and another CG! It's nuts here!!!!
  15. I can hear another storm incoming, will report as and when I have some info!
  16. A quick update, the storm has passed here now, mostly CG strikes on its trailing edge, the frontal edge is pretty intense as far as lighting is concerned, mostly IC's but it fades fairly quickly. Just watch out for what is to come, I don't think it's over just yet!
  17. The Basildon storm is intensifying as it heads East, it started off as a very little rain affair with IC's but has matured to a full blown CG, be safe everyone in its track!
