  1. Same here, the heaviest rain I have ever experienced. And driving a convertible isn't the ideal choice when you can't even hear the radio let alone see out the window!!
  2. A gentle storm just rumbled through here, it's been quite a year for me, 17 storms now and most of August still to go
  3. Not strictly true, the following taken from Blitzortung http://www.lightningmaps.org/faq?lang=en
  4. Morning all, feeling a little bit bleary eyed after being awoken at 04:15 by the 16th storm of the year. Not too much rain but a brilliant light show. Mostly IC but the odd blue CG strikes all around me!
  5. Keep an eye on the one in SW Essex, it's very lively and intensifying, good luck!
  6. That was pretty intense wasn't it? I measured 25mm or rain from that one storm alone. Currently another tracking SW through Billericay, I can see the lightning and hear the thunder from Basildon, I suspect it might turn into a proper beast!!
  7. Another storm moving in here, it may just clip me to the west but plenty of thunder heard and it's not arrived yet!
  8. Storm no.15 about to hit (i'm not being greedy honest), the amount of thunder is impressive!
  9. A fresh cell approaching from the south, the current one hasn't quite cleared yet
  10. Expecting a funnel cloud from this, the storm is heading west at low levels and north in the uppers!!!
  11. This storm might turn into a real beast, still rotating but drifting slowly northwards
  12. It's backtracking and rotating counter clockwise. I've been watching it for an hour now and it's barely moved.
  13. Storm just to my East rotating counter clockwise, might develop into something more tasty later but rather mild at the mo
  14. No sign of it stopping here yet, I have to get to bed as been up since 3:30am. Have a good night all, catch you all tomorrow and enjoy the show and stay safe
  15. Nice pics, the quiet thunder is because it's mostly intracloud, I've been calculating it to be 2-3 miles distant vertically so pretty high.
  16. For any storm haters out there, the storm passing through south Essex is mainly electrical with very little precipitation. The lightning is almost exclusively IC, meaning it's within the clouds and not the more dangerous CG, cloud to ground type that can cause damage and injury. This mornings storms however were a much different beast, nearly all CG and to be frank frightened the crap out of me!
  17. That's the baby, by the way, apart from the upside down pic can you put your location in your profile?
  18. The storm is tracking slightly to the East of Basildon. Nearly all IC strikes but some impressive ones nontheless, and almost continuous thunder. Rain falling moderately from the west, and motion appears to be around 10mph northwards.
  19. Can someone in Basildon get a photo of the wall cloud passing over, it's awesome but my wife has nicked my camera!
