  1. A long way to go, In yet in a short period of time, The Low Pressure system and where it hits will make all the difference re-wind and rain and where..
  2. Glorious day here, felt warm in the sun, been gardening and dog walking, Perfect.
  3. Absolutely, And one reason I stopped going after years of mountaineering there, it's just not the same especially since Covid. At least in the Highlands I know places where to realy get away from it all. Even so, most these places that used to be remote seem to be not the same and multimedia has driven folk there for photos and selfies/likes. Glad I've been about and experienced places beforehand. Theres still a few wild places left the best being the Rough Bounds.. I would call it the last wilderness in the UK. takes some effort though over 2/3 days heavy walking but highly worth it.. No phone signal, no paths and untouched it realy is a special place for now at least.. Have lived in Strontian at a young age and still visit from time to time glad it's off the NC500..
  4. My gardens aren't massive, But I've land/sheep with dry stone walls that needed gapping which is more work than my garden/veg patch. It's all exercise and this weather is perfect for it. As I said it's all exercise.. you've got to look at it all positively otherwise nothing would/will get done
  5. Come on folks, I try to be.. let's keep it friendly discussion..
  6. Great day today walling in the fields and digging the veg patch over. The past few days has been a big lift for us and the wildlife.. Yes the next day or two look a more gloomy, but as Dancer says we're back to it come the Bank Holiday weekend
  7. Absolutely agree, But for the record I don't call folk from London wonkers.. But I know where your coming from and well put re- centre of the universe! And your certainly not in that category going on understanding.. Have a good evening and let's hope for a good spring/summer and good health!
  8. It's not been easy through the years and its a different way of life 'being so called behind in times but I dont regret it.. It's been brilliant! But properties are being brought up by folk with pots of money that have no respect for families that have lives here for generations that can't afford to live here any more..I will leave it there.. live and let live they say
  9. It did here, But remember we here have always been well behind lol. when you have lived where I do with hundreds of acres of open land in the Peak Park in a Nature Reserve yes times have changed a bit recently
  10. Hi, I can understand. I'm a very solitude type and have always been used to the countryside and live in the middle of know where worked and lived here all my life, apart from living up in Strontian (Highlands when young on and off..so to me a few walkers and cars make a big difference, never used to be like this though. But as you say I can completely understand where your coming from. At least you can see through the wood from from the the tree's.. Many can't! I was schooled in my younger years in Bakewell and it's nothing like it used to be! Times used to be so close knit with families here in the villages, much different now since the past 15/20yr.. Anyway must not grumble, it's been a wonderful Spring day
  11. Glorious Spring day here, Been clearing the garden and digging the veg patch over and weeding, Apart from all the tourist being out and about and the local van sites filling up.. As usual during holiday periods I don't go anywhere and only run the dogs in the fields, Much busier here since Covid, Glad I don't live in Bakewell!
  12. They are, But let's not use this or any other thread to refute climate change as 'scare mongering'. This is a factual science based Forum. Let's all move on now please. Thanks.
