    River levels very high here with the A6 through Rowsley/darley bridge/Matlock & Ashford in the Water all impassable and roads shut off. The Derwent and Wye rivers won't peak until this evening so things will get worse.

    I see the the Amber warning from the METO has been extended to cover more of the Midlands.

    Not that I can ever remember, but I will leave the meto discussion. Edit- You are correct after asking them directly they can/have put them out up to 7 days ahead. So I will retract my statement

    The METO never have and never will put warnings out past 4 days, so that's understandable. Edit- This is incorrect on my behalf, they do put warnings out up to 7 days ahead

    For the first half of the week yes not all week... Meto do mention snow showers pushing South to all areas on Thursday... But yes a milder very wet few days coming up to start the week which was expected given the Models recently with flooding a major concern, then colder air pushing South from Thursday again as per recent Models.

    Maybe some more substance other that 'its looking good for Scotland' will help things move along better. Could you explain what is good and why & what models are showing the goodness?

    Yes milder blip Monday/Tuesday, Then a swing from the North into the 2nd half of the week.

    Still snowing here although light but persistent, around 2" or just under so far today, a winter wonderland outside and a hard frost tonight locally down to -4/5c

    Absolutely, There's so much uncertainty over the next 2 weeks at least never mind the rest of winter. The models are still trying to find the up-coming pattern..
