  1. i've got as much chance of snow as i have of being the new pope....... oh well, time to lose the snow tyres and get some nice big mud-munchers for the land rover.....
  2. been busy for a couple of days so not seen much of the models. is this for real??-
  3. well considering its their model and the money it costs, they probably agree with it occasionally........
  4. if we get heavy snow here in the south east i'll eat my hat. (off to make a hat-shaped cake, just in case.....)
  5. just been out and noticed a few flakes in the headlights. looking at the radar, some light showers around, now picking up in intensity. they appear to be making it from EA right down to almost the south coast.
  6. quite possibly. the charts won't show details at that range but the wind direction is from the east and the blues are (as you might think) cold uppers. with low pressure running under it like that, theres a chance heavy of snowfall. the charts from the weather we just had looked similar to those i posted.
  7. lol, how ironic- however, in FI..... and the 28th- channel lows and easterlies?? spring might not be as 'springy' as we think.......
  8. its definitely at a crucial point, it needs to start pushing north now. i'm using the force to will it north
  9. how soon though john? its been trying all day but making little progress. i'm wondering if it will slip eastwards before it can have any decent effect. i hope not though!
  10. your snow is coming from the showers off the north sea, as is most of the heavier snow round the region. the channel stuff isn't really having much of an effect....... yet.......
  11. varying light to heavy snow all morning here, now blizzard-like conditions here for the past hour. its starting to lay on the main A281 to guildford which runs past my house. you know its heavy when that happens!!
  12. Today: Snow at times across southern areas, with a risk of more prolonged and perhaps heavy snow across Kent and East Sussex later today. Elsewhere scattered snow showers. Feeling exceptionally cold. Gales or even severe gales developing along the coast. Maximum temperature 2 °C. severe gales????
  13. morning people, snizzard conditions here!! edit- now proper flakes, coming down heavy and on the radar it looks like the snow is intensifying........
  14. lol!.... the low is definitely further north and on a slow moving track. the precip is headed straight for us. lets hope it can keep up the intensity, if so we could be looking at... well.... lets just say ground level could be a good few inches higher in the morning.... and white.....
  15. thats gonna be a long wait john.... the low is further north and is looking good but if we keep watching, we could end up like this-
  16. stay up gary. when the wife said she was hoping for four inches, she meant snow.....
  17. well heres the latest from xcweather- http://www.xcweather.co.uk/FR/observations
  18. i saw that but it didnt quite tally with the sat images. i'm wondering if a smaller LP spawned from the main one, which has possibly dragged the whole system further north
  19. hi nick, do you agree that the LP system is further north than forecast? http://www.sat24.com/en/eu if so whats your opinion? i've also been watching the pressure observations on xcweather and they seem to have been further north than the forecast charts
  20. going by the latest satellite images, http://www.sat24.com/en/eu the LP system is further north than forecast. good news i believe......
  21. having looked through various observation sources (satellite, radar, xcweather pressure obs etc) comparing them to forecasts and fergie's posts regarding precip modelling difficulty, i would advise largely ignoring precip forecast charts. i have a feeling they are greatly underplaying the potential snow amounts for the southern counties (an opinion cautiously shared by the met office apparently) i think this snow event (for some) will have the OMG! factor........
