  1. If we look at this set up & then compare October 1987 there are a lot of similarities- I havent looked on the METO page but there should already be amber warnings out & sunday overnight into monday may eventually be upgraded to red... S
  2. Well despite checking out of winter I would happily take the JMA as last chance saloon ! 216 would see that -10c line in England !
  3. ignore image last chances here in the next 36 hours if it snows today It will have snowed here 4 times this winter - not settling once !
  4. Glossop about to take another beating... maybe 14-15 inches
  5. Looking at the radar I woukd have to up the totals now to 10-12 inches
  6. Glossop & the peaks getting hammered at the moment As said 8-10 inches
  7. Expect around 8-10 inches @ glossup by end of day
  8. Morning Good to hear the snow !! I would love to be in buxton now !! just checked the 10-1015 radar loop & pleased for you that the PPN arc is beginning to sink south whilst the echoes still move WSW so the sweet spot will be places like high peak in the North of the region however some deep yellow echoes marching west from doncaster & upwind @ sc unthorpe expect the southern part of the derby peaks to come into the fray more as well target depth totals for the tops 8-10 inches !
  9. Exactly as it was earlier radar looks good for a couple of CMs though

  12. Hi john The grass snow level was Buxton 300M then as we exited towards the Cat & fiddle the pavements had that coverage at about 375-M at 400M the roads went from wet to setting snow - Cat & Fiddle at 500M had heavy blowing snow - approx 3cm bit as said was blowing all over the place- so yes your height about right- once we came back down past Matlock it was all green again S
  13. Heavy snow here in buxton from around 9am 1-2cm of slush expecting around 5cm up over the cat & fiddle s
  14. I think there is a much higher chance of seeing snow falling late Fri across to sunday - that is winters last ( or first ) hurrah ...
  15. Currently staying in Buxton - nicely perched at 300M & availability of 600m just 10 mins away- should see some snow in the morning
  16. With Ian highlighting the stratospheric profiles heading to warmer waters I wonder what odds he would give on a spring colder than Winter certainly Dec V March could be 5c different.... s
  17. Whilst im pretty much resigned to no more snow here in our little part of the world - tonights UKMO is very good for areas a bit further North & infact the blocking element on that run is pretty good with a cut off high towards greenland at 144
  18. Winters over people ( for us ) see you next year unless something spectacular happens in the next 10 days s
