I can confirm rain here in north wilts, at 0.2/-0.7.
Maybe the radar is having a funny turn!

ok, i get up for work at 6 so should i get up a little earlier or stay up later. Like someone else has said, seeing it snow and not settle is better than nothing at all, seeing it twice before crimbo is quite simply GERT lush :smiliz19:
-
earlier this week the ground was drenched but after 20mins of heavy big flake snow it settled and dusted everything. not saying that it will settle tonight (or even snow!) but persistant snow can settle on wet ground
-
do we think this whole situation will fizzle out before it can get going, regarding the wintry precipitation?
edit: cheers Paul T, answered my question
-

Evening all!
Back for another Winter on NetWeather!...
I would love to join in with the "temperature watch", but we've recently moved house and in the process of doing so the removal men smashed my weather station!
I doubt I'll get another one up-and-running before the winter is over (if it ever gets going that is!)...
The car said it was 4.5ºc about 30 minutes ago here.
Oh, I'm in Bristol now (Emersons Green area)... Not sure what the "ASL" figure is but will try and find out!
Not sure what to believe tonight... Will I wake up to a white world or a washout!
shame you moved from trowbridge mate, remember last winter well when it dumped snow when everyone said it wouldnt!
-
It is very good however I have never been totaly sure if it predicts what ppn is rather than nowcasting it!? because I have noticed it does from time to time show rain when clearly it is snowing outside and vice versa.
rain is currently up to bristol channel east of region and south west wales.
Another good source of information is to check the wonderground website and see how general temperatures are reacting in your region, should be able to get an idea of when the undercut of colder air starts to feed in.
nice home page on the weather station, think i need to tweek mine a little. Also, never thought Chilcompton was that high up but clearly is!

Yes i agree however i doubt the snow line will be that straight either ect but it shows a good southwest movement of snow potential and if that was to be the final 'correct chart' id take bank that anyday as gives somerset, bristol, wilts and glouc all much better chance.
I should really lay off the wine tonight! one and a half bottles is really starting to make life hard on this forum
surely its making it easier
got a half day tomorrow so will be watching the NW forums for updates, expecting another rollercoaster day. Agreed it would be rather boring if it was too predictable.
-
HUGE snow near frome, settling as well, not sure how long it'll last but GERT LUSH !!!
-
I suspected the Mendips area would get some wet snow! Glad for you!
Still possible for more wet snow in the south west for the rest of the week! On iPhone at the moment so unfortunately can't post charts, but someone recently posted a GFS chart for Friday in the model discussion thread that had snow from Somerset northwards on it!
If anyone can post it on this thread that would be good so people know what I'm talking about!
Wouldn't be suprised if people in the Cotswolds woke up to a dusting of snow tomorrow either!
twas only briefly and had i not had to work in it i would have appreciated it even more!
is it me or is this winter started off really complicated and unpredictable?
i've also subsrcribed to the NW radar, 15min refresh just isnt fast enough!
-
really chuffed, wet snow and bits of hail near frome, particulary from 3pm onwards.
-
I just had a really nasty squal come in off the irish sea, easy to see on the radar, temp droped 2.5c in about 15 minute.
does that constitute a cold front ?
looks heavy on my poor mans radar.
using my untrained eye i'll suggest it looks to be forming into a very long squall line, north cornwall to liverpool?
pressure drop has slowed now from 3.3 to 1 mb/hr
-
the guy is a legend, his forecasts on local weather are so much more informative than the national weather, although i suppose its to accomodate halfwits.
interesting lumps of red (viewing on poor mans radar..) clusters due to hit north devon maybe 2-3 hours??
-
Bristol channel streamer tomorrow anyone? I can see a few suprises tomorrow, don't know why just have a feeling.
im up for that, working near Frome tomorrow, not sure how much will make it down there. realise it wont settle but would be gert lush to see some white stuff falling from the sky, especially as its a last minute-ish forecast
-
Hello winter, its been a while...!!!
My back door isn't going to blow through but annoyingly it is leaking. Damn you south facing garden (apart from the summer of course)
I actually advised someone flying on Christmas day that snow was very unlikely... but I thought they were flying from Bournemouth not Cardiff... we'll see...
apologies in advance but thats a christmas cracker
